In plain English: Psalm 129 is Israel speaking as the scourged body of Christ in advance. The central image — plowers plowing long furrows upon my back — is the Roman scourging done a thousand years before Rome existed. The harvest that fails for Zion's haters in Psa 129:7 is the same harvest Christ brings home in Psa 126:6 with rejoicing.

Key lock — A SONG OF DEGREES = 117 = PENTECOST. The superscription is shared across all 15 Songs of Ascents (Psa 120–134). At 117 it equals PENTECOST — the day Israel ascends from grain harvest to Spirit harvest. Psa 129 sits at position 10/15 of the ascent set; the climb mid-point is the plowed back. The ascent goes through scourging, not around it.
Key lock — ISRAEL = ZION = 64. The speaker (v1 "may Israel now say") and the object of the enemies' hatred (v5 "that hate Zion") share one integer. The afflicted body and the hated city are the same integer. When the wicked hate Zion they hate Israel; when Israel is plowed, Zion is plowed. The 64 also = JUBILEE = MERCY — the wicked are plowing the very integer that names the year of release.

Psa 129 is engineered as a bone-and-flesh psalm. Two anatomical metaphors run through it:
The back (v3): plowed, furrowed, made long. The Roman flagellum tears 39 stripes — the upper body becomes a tilled field. The Hebrew word translated "plowers" (חרשים, choreshim) puns on the silent ones / the engravers — the same root that produces the engravers on Aaron's breastplate stones (Exo 28). The plowers ENGRAVE Israel's back with the names of the tribes. The wounds become the inscription.
The bosom (v7): where the failed sheaves should rest. The Hebrew word for bosom (חצן, chotsen) is a load-bearing fold of the garment. The bosom of v7 is the same anatomical site as the bosom of v3 (the front of the plowed torso). The wicked plowed Israel's back; they fail to fill Israel's front. The body that received the furrows refuses to receive their harvest.

Lock (v1): ISRAEL NOW SAY = 161 = SWEET COUNSEL (Psa 55:14) = IN THY PRESENCE (Psa 140:13). The corporate-witness phrase (without the leading "MAY") sits on the fellowship-restoration integer. When Israel speaks her affliction-history, she does it in the integer of Psalm 55's sweet counsel. The collective remembering is a fellowship act, not a complaint act. Lock (v3): the embedded 129 inside THEY MADE LONG is the chapter-number-self-lock. Psa 129 names its own integer at the precise micro-phrase that names the length-extension of the furrows. The Lord lets Israel say her own affliction in the integer that means intensity-maximum (= LORD ART GOOD = WONDROUS = VIOLENT MEN = PERFECT HATRED = READY TO HALT = FEARFULLY MADE — the six-member 129 family).
Lock (v3): PLOWED UPON MY BACK = 196 = 14² = QUICK AND POWERFUL (Heb 4:12) = GREAT IS THY MERCY (Psa 86:13). The perfect-square 14² is a seal integer (cf. the perfect-square cluster from the followups doc). The plowed-upon back is the same integer as the Word that is quick and powerful and as the great mercy of the Lord. The scourging-back IS the cross-piercing-Word IS the great-mercy.
Lock (v4): CUT ASUNDER = 126 — this is a cross-chapter lock to Psa 126 (the adjacent ascent psalm). The verb of liberation in Psa 129 = the chapter number of the harvest psalm. The cutting of the cords in Psa 129 IS the return-from-captivity of Psa 126 at integer. Psa 126's "they that sow in tears shall reap in joy" requires the prior cutting-asunder of Psa 129:4.
Lock (v4): CORDS OF THE WICKED = 168 = SON OF THE BLESSED. The bondage-instrument of the wicked = the high-priestly title of Christ (Mk 14:61 "Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"). What the wicked use to bind Israel IS the title Christ confesses at his trial — at integer. The cords are cut by the same integer the wicked deny.
Lock (v5): LET THEM ALL BE CONFOUNDED = 216 = 6³. The full judgment-clause is the Shem-ha-Mephoresh integer (72-letter Name = 216). The wicked are confounded by being placed inside the unutterable Name. The 216 = 8 × 27 = 2³ × 3³ = perfect Tesla cube.
Lock (v5): TURNED BACK = 99 — the firmament-cluster. The verb of judgment (in passive voice on the wicked) sits on the same integer as UPRIGHT and CAST OUT. What the wicked do to Israel (turn back from blessing) is what God does to them at the firmament integer. Same integer, opposite vector — classic boomerang.
Lock (v5): THAT HATE ZION = 147
Lock (v6): AS THE GRASS = 117 = PENTECOST = A SONG OF DEGREES (superscription). The vegetation phrase = the superscription integer. The grass-on-housetops = the song-of-degrees itself — the haters wither inside the very ascent-song they cannot sing. This is one of the densest superscription-locks in the Songs of Ascents.
Lock (v6): LET THEM BE AS THE GRASS = AFORE IT GROWETH UP = 207. Twin inside v6. 207 = PRAISE HER IN THE GATES (Prov 31:31) = THE UPRIGHT IN HEART (Psa 64:10) = Eshet Chayil terminus. The grass-judgment-clause = the Eshet Chayil terminus. The grass that withers before it grows = the praise that is withheld at the gates (cf. v8's withheld blessing). The wicked never receive their Eshet Chayil terminus.
Lock (v6): GRASS = ZION = ISRAEL = 64. The wicked aimed at Zion (v5) and become as the grass (v6) — they take on the integer of the thing they hated. Hatred causes integer-substitution: hate Zion long enough and you become Zion's integer in the wrong vector.
Lock (v7): MOWER = 74 = JESUS. The harvester whose hand goes unfilled is Christ. The verse reads, with substitution, "Wherewith JESUS filleth not his hand" — what the wicked refuse to harvest is the Christic yield. Their fields are sterile precisely because Christ won't reap them. The mower whose name they cannot honor is the mower whose name is the answer to all the other 74s in scripture (CROSS, FASTENED, MENORAH).
Lock (v7): HIS SHEAVES = 115 = SPEAR+STAKE = BLOOD+WATER. The sheaves the wicked can't bind are the crucifixion integer. The harvest they fail to fill is the side-wound payload (cf. Psa 22 / John 19:34). The wicked can't bind the crucified into their bundles.
Lock (v7): HE THAT BINDETH SHEAVES HIS BOSOM = 303 = 3 × MELCHIZEDEK (101). The full binding-failure clause = 3 × priest-king integer. The wicked's failed bosom-binding is impossible because the binding-bosom belongs to the threefold priest-king order.
Lock (v8): THE LORD BE UPON YOU = 216 = LET THEM ALL BE CONFOUNDED (v5). Cross-verse twin: the shortened blessing-form (v8) and the confounding-judgment (v5) are at one integer 216 = 6³. What the wicked refuse to say to Zion is what Zion will say of them (in different vector): "Let them all be confounded" at the same integer as "The Lord be upon you." Boomerang at the cubed-six integer.
Lock (v8): BLESS YOU IN THE NAME = 207 = LET THEM BE AS THE GRASS (v6) = AFORE IT GROWETH UP (v6) = PRAISE HER IN THE GATES (Prov 31:31). Triple in-psalm 207 lock spanning v6 and v8. The grass-judgment phrase, the wither-before-growth phrase, and the truncated-blessing phrase all converge on the Eshet Chayil terminus integer.
Lock (v8): WE BLESS YOU = 146 = NEW JERUSALEM = BREAST OF KINGS. The pass-by's blessing-formula = the city-bride name. The blessing the wicked never say is New Jerusalem's name itself. New Jerusalem's gematria = the breast-of-kings, the inscribed-fine-linen — the wedding-city integer.
Lock (v8): BE UPON YOU = 134 = SPEAR AND STAKE = BLOOD AND WATER. The blessing the wicked refuse contains the crucifixion integer at its prepositional core. "Be upon you" gematria-equals "spear and stake" — the blessing that passes them by carries the cross.
"The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows."
The most stunning verse in the Songs of Ascents. A single sentence that names what Roman soldiers will do to Christ a thousand years later, in agricultural metaphor — plowing the back with the long furrows of the flagellum. Israel speaks corporately, but Christ speaks through Israel. This is the great Hebrew-Bible Christophany verse alongside Isa 53:5 ("with his stripes we are healed").
Lock 3-A — The chapter-number-self-lock (THEY MADE LONG = 129). Psa 129's chapter number is gematria-embedded in v3 as the three-word phrase they made long. This is one of the strictest self-locks in the Psalter. The verse that names the central wound names it at the chapter's own integer. And 129 is the intensity-integer — the same integer that names God's wondrous goodness, the violent men, the fearfully-made body, and the perfect-hatred verb. The plowers' long furrows are at the integer of God's marvelous works at full intensity. The wickedness IS the intensity, displaced.
Lock 3-B — PLOWED UPON MY BACK = 196 = 14² (perfect square seal). From the followups doc (Psa 86:13 GREAT IS THY MERCY = 196 = 14²; Psa 110:4 PRIEST FOR EVER = 441 = 21²): perfect-square seals mark theological apex verses. Psa 129:3 carries 14² at the plowing-clause. 14² = GREAT IS THY MERCY = QUICK AND POWERFUL (Heb 4:12) = FULL OF COMPASSION. The clause that names the wound = the clause that names God's mercy = the clause that names the Word's power. The integer architecture says: the plowing IS the mercy IS the Word's penetration. Read with Isa 53:5 and 1 Pet 2:24, this verse has been hiding 14² since 1611.
Lock 3-C — The four-141 in-psalm twin (THE PLOWERS / BINDETH SHEAVES / NOT PREVAILED / TIME HAVE THEY). Four phrases in Psa 129 sum to 141. THE PLOWERS (v3) names the persecutors. BINDETH SHEAVES (v7) names the action they fail to complete. NOT PREVAILED (v2) names their failure. TIME HAVE THEY (v2 again) names the duration of the affliction. Persecutors + failure to harvest + failure to prevail + duration of attempt all at 141. This is the densest single-integer in-psalm cluster in the decode. 141 = AGAINST ME + AGAINST ME twin? No — 141 = NOT PREVAILED ↔ THE PLOWERS ↔ BINDETH SHEAVES ↔ TIME HAVE THEY. Note: AGAINST ME = 89, not 141. The 141 cluster is the enemy-architecture integer of Psa 129. 141 = 3 × 47 (the 47 from v1 prime factor 658 = 2 × 7 × 47 — the same prime that builds v1 builds the enemy-architecture integer).
Lock 3-D — HIS SHEAVES = 115 = SPEAR + STAKE = BLOOD + WATER (the side-wound integer). Although HIS SHEAVES is technically in v7's clause, the figurative back-side connection runs through v3. The plowers furrow the back at 196; the wicked fail to gather the side at 115. The plowing-front and the failed-binding-back are the same anatomical instance. John 19:34's spear-and-water are pre-encoded in Psa 129's failed harvest. Read in this lattice: the back is plowed by the wicked, the side is the harvest the wicked cannot bind, the bosom is the storehouse the wicked cannot fill, and Christ withholds himself from their threshing floor by being already-killed on Calvary's threshing floor.
Lock 3-E — FURROWS = 120 = HOLY × 2 = CHIEF MUSICIAN = CALL UPON GOD = SOUL IN PEACE. The wounds the wicked carve = HOLY doubled = the act of doubling holiness. The flagellum-stripes are doubled-holiness inscriptions. 120 is also the unit of Moses's lifespan, of the year of Pentecost-50-day-cycle-doubled-plus-20. The wounds are the score on which the Chief Musician plays. The Psa 55 superscription integer (120) marks the very wound that allows Psa 55:14's sweet counsel.
Lock 3-F — THEIR FURROWS = 180 = double-Hadoram (memory ). 180 is the angular reversal integer of the 18:10 / 10:18 mirror. The wicked's furrows are 180° — they go in the wrong direction. They plow on Israel's back, away from heaven; the long furrows point backwards. Twin: THEIR FURROWS = 180 sits on the integer that lets the address-mirror flip. The wicked plow the reverse of the temple-supply-chain integer.
Verse 3 says, with all integers loaded in: "The persecutors-at-the-141 plowed at the 14²-mercy-integer upon my 17-sealed-back: they made long their 129-self-lock-furrows at the 120-holy-doubled inscription, in the 180-reversed direction." The verse is engineered as: 141 (enemy) carves 196 (mercy-perfect-square) into 17 (sealed back) at 129 (chapter-self-lock) using 120 (holy-doubled) furrows pointed at 180 (reversal). The plowing IS the mercy IS the chapter-name IS the holy-doubled inscription IS the reversed-Hadoram, all at one verse. The wicked thought they were destroying Israel. They were carving the menorah-doubled holy inscription on the chapter-number integer of the intensity-maximum.
Verse 3 is the engraving of Israel-as-priest, by the very enemies who hate Zion.
"Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom."
The wicked are seen at v6 as housetop-grass — soil-less, root-less, withering before it grows. v7 follows with the harvester's hand and the binder's bosom both empty. The image is agricultural; the integer-architecture is Christic.
The MOWER = 74 lock. The harvester who refuses to gather the wicked's crop is Christ (JESUS = CROSS = FASTENED = MENORAH = MOWER = 74). The substitution reads: Wherewith JESUS filleth not his hand. The wicked's harvest is left in the field because the only mower who could harvest it won't.
Twin: BINDETH SHEAVES = 141. Same integer as THE PLOWERS (v3) and NOT PREVAILED (v2). The same integer that names the plowers names the failed binders. v3's plowers (the persecutors of Israel) and v7's binders (the wicked's failed harvesters) are gematria-twinned. The plowers and the binders are the same group at the same integer; what they planted (v3 long-furrows on Israel's back) they cannot harvest (v7 unfilled bosom). They sowed pain into Israel's back at 141 and could not reap into their own bosom at 141. The verb-direction reverses; the integer holds. This is a perfect 141 boomerang.
HIS BOSOM = 100 = WHICH GO BY. The bosom (v7) and the passers-by (v8) are at the same integer. The wicked's empty bosom = the wicked's silent passing. What they fail to gather (v7) is what they fail to bless (v8) — same place in their body.
BOSOM = 64 = ZION = ISRAEL = JUBILEE. The wicked's bosom (where the failed sheaves should rest) is at the integer of the city they hate and the people they plowed. They cannot fill at 64 the bosom they tried to destroy at 64. Hatred of Zion makes Zion uninhabitable in the hater's chest.
Psa 126:6 (the adjacent ascent psalm):
"He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."
Psa 129:7:
"Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom."
The two adjacent psalms run opposite vectors on the same farming metaphor. Psa 126:6 is the righteous reaping; Psa 129:7 is the wicked failing to reap. The integer architecture:

The killer cross-bridge:HIS SHEAVES = 115 appears in BOTH Psa 126:6 ("bringing his sheaves with him") AND Psa 129:7 ("nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom"). Same 2-word phrase, same integer, opposite vectors. In Psa 126 the sheaves are brought home with rejoicing. In Psa 129 the sheaves are the wicked's failed bundle. The integer 115 = SPEAR+STAKE = BLOOD+WATER bridges them. What Christ brings home from his sowing (Psa 126:6) is what the wicked cannot bind into their bosom (Psa 129:7). The harvest is the same harvest. The harvester is the same. The bosom that fills (righteous) vs the bosom that empties (wicked) split at one integer.
This is a 3-integer-apart adjacent-psalm chiasm: Psa 126:6 + Psa 129:7 share the HIS SHEAVES integer (115), and Psa 126's chapter number = Psa 129:4 CUT ASUNDER integer (126).
