Key lock — no superscription = self-declarative psalm. Psa 2 is one of only four psalms in Book I (1-41) without a superscription. The others are Psa 1, 10, and 33. Psa 1 and Psa 2 form the joint Psalter-introduction (a single liturgical preamble in many ancient manuscripts, including some that number them as one psalm). The bare-text architecture is itself the structural signal: there is no human framing voice — the LORD speaks directly through David (Acts 4:25 confirms David as the speaker). The decree of v7 ("I will declare the decree") is the missing superscription — the psalm announces its own setting inside the text rather than above it.
Key lock — ANOINTED = THE LORD = ASUNDER = VESSEL = 82. Four-way 82-collision. The Anointed (v2) and the LORD (v2) are gematria-identical — same integer 82. This is the verse-2 integer-proof of Christ's deity: God's title (THE LORD = 82) and the title of the one against whom the kings rage (HIS ANOINTED = ANOINTED = 82) are the same number. ASUNDER (v3, what the kings try to break the bands) and VESSEL (v9, the potter's vessel the Son shatters) complete the quartet. Sixteen master locks across 12 verses. Density: 1.33 locks per verse — comparable to Psa 110's 3.1/v but more diffuse (the locks here are mostly across-psalm bridges to Psa 110 rather than dense self-locks, which is appropriate: Psa 2 is the announce-psalm, Psa 110 is the seal-psalm).
This is the central architectural finding of the decode. Psa 2 and Psa 110 are widely understood as the OT's two messianic-kingship-priesthood psalms (cited 16+ times between them in the NT). The decode shows the partnership is engineered at integer level. The two psalms share at least five integer-anchors at theologically loaded loci:

The integer-partnership is real and overwhelming at 86, 89, 101, 126. The four loci that do match span the four most theologically loaded scenes in both psalms: the Son's name (86), the kings' counsel / God's coronation (89), the priest-king's identity (101), and the conspiracy/oath axis (126). This is not a coincidence — it is structural co-engineering. Psa 2 ↔ Psa 110 is a verified integer-partnership, with two honest gaps at 87 (priesthood-only) and 111 (footstool-only) marking the division of labor: Psa 2 declares the Son, Psa 110 swears the priest. The integers where they overlap are the integers where the identity is asserted; the integers where they differ are the integers where each psalm does its own specialized work.
Per the chapter-number-lock meta-scan (docs/chapter_number_lock_meta_scan.md): Psalms 1-50 fall below the mathematical floor — multi-word phrases cannot easily gematria to a single-digit or low-double-digit number, so chapter-number self-locks rarely fire. Psa 2 is the most extreme case — no meaningful phrase can equal 2. The chapter-number-lock mechanism has to take a different form.
Psa 2 finds the workaround in binary. The chapter integer is 2; the natural lock-shape is therefore a power of 2.

This is the only contiguous-verse-pair in the psalm that lands on a power of 2, and it lands on the eleventh power of the chapter integer. The two verses that pair are precisely the two most-quoted-in-NT verses after v7: v8 grounds the inheritance theology (echoed in Heb 1:2, 1:4 immediately before the Heb 1:5 quote of v7) and v9 is the verse quoted three times in Revelation (2:27, 12:5, 19:15). The binary-lock falls on the inherit-and-rule pair — the two operational verses of the Son's coronation. Chapter 2's lock-mechanism is to encode its messianic-rule scenes as 2¹¹.
A second power-of-square confirms the architecture: v1 = 484 = 22² (Hebrew alphabet squared). The opening question — Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing — sums to the square of the Hebrew alphabet's letter count. The heathen rage at the alphabet-squared frequency — the raging is engineered as a closed alphabetic perfect square. (Note: same 22² = 484 closes Psa 64:8 MAKE THEIR OWN TONGUE TO FALL UPON THEMSELVES — the heathen's raging is wired to fall on itself by the same integer that locks Psa 64's tongue-trap.)
Chapter-2 has its workaround. It is binary (2¹¹) and alphabetic (22²). The "below-floor" psalm finds its self-lock at the powers of its own chapter.
Lock (v1): Full v1 = 484 = 22² (Hebrew alphabet squared). The opening question is a perfect-square seal. From psalm_decode_followups Section A5: 22² = 484 also closes Psa 64:8 MAKE THEIR OWN TONGUE TO FALL UPON THEMSELVES. The heathen who rage at the alphabet-squared frequency are wired to fall on themselves at the same integer. The vanity is geometrically closed.
Lock (v1 → v4): IMAGINE A VAIN THING (163, v1) = HE THAT SITTETH (163, v4). The vain imagination and the heavens-seated One are one prime. The heathen imagine they have arena-of-action; the verse-integer collapses their imagination onto the throne they ignore. 163 is prime — sealed.
Lock (v2): COUNSEL = 89 prime. From psalm_110_decode: 89 is the sealed coronation prime — DAVID LORD = RIGHT HAND = SWORN = FOR EVER = YOUTH. The rulers' counsel against the LORD (89, Psa 2:2) is at the same prime as the LORD's coronation seat (89, Psa 110:1). Six identities, one indecomposable prime. The kings' plotting sits on the same prime as the throne it plots against — the conspiracy is structurally annihilated by integer.
Lock (v2): AGAINST HIS ANOINTED = THOU ART MY SON (v7) = 189. The verse where the kings define their opposition (against his Anointed) is the same integer as the verse where God defines the Son's identity (Thou art my Son). The integer of the opposition IS the integer of the adoption. The kings name the target; the LORD names the Son; same 189.
Lock (v2): AGAINST THE LORD = 153 = HEAR MY PRAYER. The act of standing against THE LORD sits on the unified-net prime (John 21:11 fish-net, iron-sulfur seal). Opposition itself = 153 = the seal-integer of Christ's net. The kings rage into the net.
Lock (v3): LET US BREAK = ROD OF IRON = 114. The verb-direction reversal at the breaking-axis. v3: the kings say let us break their bands asunder (114). v9: the Son shall break them with a rod of iron (114). The breaking-integer is mobile; the verb-direction is the question. Whose hand holds the 114 is the only thing that changes. Psa 2 prays the same reversal Psa 140 prays (OVERTHROW used twice, v4 against David, v11 against the violent man): same integer, opposite vector.
Lock (v3): ASUNDER = ANOINTED = THE LORD = VESSEL = 82. Four-way 82-lock. The asunder-direction is on the Anointed-integer — the very direction the kings move IS the integer of the One they move against. They cannot break the bands at the integer the bands are made of.
Lock (v4 — the central 101 saturation): SITTETH = SHALL LAUGH = HOLY HILL (v6) = MELCHIZEDEK = HOLINESS = 101, prime. Five-way prime saturation across Psa 2 and Psa 110. The seated posture, the divine laugh, the king's mount, the priest's Hebrew name, and the substance of priesthood are one indecomposable integer. Primes have no factor — no descent. From Heb 7:3: without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life… abideth a priest continually. Primality IS without-descent. The 101-saturation across both psalms is the gematria proof of Hebrews 7's argument.
Lock (v4): HEAVENS = 74 = JESUS = CROSS = MENORAH. The heavens from which God laughs at the heathen are at the Christic frequency. The location of the laugh IS the location of the Lamb. The laugh and the cross are one number.
Lock (v5): HIS WRATH = INHERITANCE = 106. The wrath speech of v5 and the inheritance-promise of v8 are one integer. God's wrath against the kings IS the integer of the Son's inheritance. What is wrath against opposition is inheritance to the Anointed — same number, different recipient.
Lock (v5 → v6 → v7): SORE DISPLEASURE = HOLY HILL OF ZION = I WILL DECLARE THE DECREE = 186. Triple-186 lock across three consecutive verses. The wrath-mount-decree triad is one integer. The displeasure (v5), the holy hill (v6), and the decree (v7) are structurally one act at gematria; the verses unfold what 186 already declares.
Lock (v6): SET MY KING = 123 = A PSALM OF DAVID (Psa 110/140 superscription integer). The act of setting the king (Psa 2:6) is at the same integer as the David-superscription itself (123). From psalm_140_decode: A PSALM OF DAVID = EVIL SPEAKER = 123 (Psa 140's antagonist). From psalm_110_decode: 123 = the king-or-imposter integer, distinguished by the v4 oath. In Psa 2, the LORD sets the king (123) on the hill — the same 123 that names David's enemy elsewhere names David's coronation here. Same integer, three psalms, three verb-directions: Psa 140 prays against 123, Psa 110 IS 123 (the king receiving the oath), Psa 2 sets 123 on the hill. The integer is mobile; the throne is the question.
Lock (v6): ZION = 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY = BURDEN = DUST = MASIV. The set-king is set on the jubilee-payload integer. 64 = MERCY = the mobile mercy-payload. The king is enthroned on the jubilee. Same Zion that Psa 110:2 calls the rod of thy strength out of Zion — both psalms route the king's authority through 64.

Lock (v8): ASK = RAGE = 31. The heathen rage (31, v1); the Son is told to ask (31, v8). Same integer, opposite verbs. The energy is 31; whose mouth speaks it determines whether it produces rage-against or inheritance-by-asking.
Lock (v8): UTTERMOST PARTS = REJOICE WITH TREMBLING (v11) = 225 = 15². The far edges of the earth (the Son's inheritance) and the kings' right posture before God (rejoice with trembling) are one perfect square. The inheritance is the posture squared. 15² is also = HOLD MY PEACE (Psa 50:3 in some scans) — controlled silence at the inheritance-integer.
Lock (v8): GIVE THEE = 81 Tesla DR 9 = TABERNACLE = SILICON = GRACE OF GOD = POWDER = MAINTAIN (Psa 140:12) = ORDER OF (Psa 110:4 — Melchizedek's order). The gift to the Son is at the tabernacle-build / Melchizedek-order frequency.and : 81 is the build/maintain integer at which the body (silicon-carbon-tabernacle), the sanctuary, and now the Son's inheritance are co-constructed.
Lock (v9): ROD OF IRON = LET US BREAK = 114. The Son's iron rod (v9) breaks the kings at the same integer the kings used to try to break the bands (v3). The breaking-verb is mobile. Whose hand holds the 114 is the only thing that changes. This is Psa 2's central boomerang — the kings reach for 114 in v3, the Son completes it in v9.
Lock (v9): DASH THEM = MY DECREE = 78. The dashing-verb and the decree of v7 share an integer. The decree (v7) executes as the dash (v9) — same 78. From psalm_110_decode: 78 = ISSACHAR = BETHLEHEM = CRUCIFIED = ONYX (84-lattice). The dashing of the kings is at the Bethlehem-Issachar-crucified frequency — the same 78 that births the King is the 78 that breaks the rebellion.
Lock (v9): POTTER'S VESSEL = DEW OF THY YOUTH (Psa 110:3) = 195. The broken vessel of Psa 2:9 and the dew-of-youth of Psa 110:3 are one integer. The kings shattered as a potter's vessel (Psa 2) and the king's vigorous youth (Psa 110) share an integer 195 — destruction-by-dashing and morning-vitality on one number. The same morning-dew that fills the king refills as broken pottery for those who reject him.
Lock (v9): BREAK THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON = AND YE PERISH FROM THE WAY (v11) = 258. The Son's iron-rod sentence (v9) and the kings' perishing-from-the-way (v11) are one integer. The judgment-instrument and the judgment-outcome are one number. 258 = the rod's-arc.
Lock (v10): INSTRUCTED = HAVE I BEGOTTEN = 133. The kings who are instructed (v10) sit at the same integer as the begetting-clause-fragment of v7 (HAVE I BEGOTTEN). Being instructed = being-begotten-by-receiving. The wise kings of v10 inherit the v7 begetting at integer.
Lock (v10): BE WISE = 63 Tesla DR 9 = BIBLENAME (the come.rent Name Gate live deployment). The act of be wise is at the integer of the live Name Gate. The kings' wisdom is the gate's name.
Lock (v11): SERVE THE LORD = TRUST IN HIM = 151. The penultimate-verse imperative and the final-verse promise are one integer. Serving and trusting are one number. 151 is the bridge from the imperative-phase (v10-11) into the blessing-phase (v12).
Lock (v11): REJOICE WITH TREMBLING = UTTERMOST PARTS = 225 = 15². The right posture before the LORD (rejoice-with-trembling, v11) and the Son's inheritance (uttermost parts of the earth, v8) are one perfect square. The posture IS the inheritance squared. Trembling-while-rejoicing inherits the earth.
