Tradition: David's prayer from the Cave of Adullam (1 Sam 22:1–2), the same chapter in which Doeg the Edomite reports David to Saul (1 Sam 22:9–10) and slaughters 85 priests at Nob (1 Sam 22:18). Psa 52 and Psa 142 are the two psalms tied to that single historical day, written from opposite sides: Psa 52 names Doeg in the superscription; Psa 142 hides in the cave Doeg's report drove David into.

In plain English: Psalm 142 is the cave-floor companion to Psalm 52: the same historical event (1 Sam 22), the opposite vantage. Psa 52 stands in the priestly courtyard and names Doeg the Edomite (135); Psa 142 lies in the cave Doeg's report drove David into, and at gematria it does something extraordinary — DAVIDS PRAYER = 142, the psalm's chapter number is the value of its own genre-title self-naming, and PRAYER OF DAVID = 144, the OVERTHROW-boomerang integer from Psalm 140. The psalm names itself twice, at both the chapter number (142) and the boomerang (144). Underneath, the cave hides the same 135 that names Doeg: POURED OUT (v2) = DOEG THE EDOMITE = BURNING COALS (Psa 140:10) = ARTAXERXES = 135, and the destination David asks God for is OUT OF PRISON = STRONGER THAN I = SON OF THE BLESSED = TAKE PLUCK ROOT (Psa 52:5) = 168 — the destruction-verb that uproots Doeg in Psa 52 is the strength-verb of David's persecutor in Psa 142 is the praise-verb of v9 in Psa 52. Three psalms, one integer. Most striking of all, CAVE = DOEG = 31 — the place David hides has the same integer as the man hunting him. And v7's closing line — "the righteous shall compass me about" — fires the COMPASS-boomerang of Psa 140:9: the same integer 86 (COMPASS = THY NAME = WAYSIDE) is fired by the wicked in Psa 140 and by the righteous in Psa 142. Same verb, same integer, opposite agents. The cave is a mathematical refuge.

Key lock — DAVIDS PRAYER = 142 = chapter number. The psalm's genre-title-self-naming computes to the chapter number it is filed under in the Psalter. From psalm_decode_followups A1: psalm chapters participate in the gematria layer. Psa 142 is the cleanest case so far — the psalm names itself at its own address. Reading: David's prayer is filed at the integer of its own self-naming. The chapter-number is not arbitrary; it is the gematria of what the psalm IS. Two-position lock: PRAYER OF DAVID = 144 (the OVERTHROW-boomerang integer of Psa 140). The psalm has two self-namings, one at the chapter number (142) and one at the cross-psalm boomerang (144). Same noun-pair, two integers, two anchors.
Secondary lock — CAVE = DOEG = 31. The cave David hides in and the man whose report drove him there share an integer. From psalm_52_decode: DOEG = 31 = LAND (the land out of which he is rooted at v52:5). The cave (31) is therefore the land-of-the-living (LAND=31) inverted into shelter. David is hidden inside the integer of his persecutor. The prime 31 is sealed (it cannot be factored), and the cave is sealed (it cannot be entered without knowing where it is). The integer-seal and the geographic-seal agree.
Tertiary lock — THE CAVE = ADULLAM = AHIMELECH = 64. The cave's name Adullam and the priest Ahimelech (whom Doeg slew because David came to him for bread and Goliath's sword) share an integer. From psalm_52_decode: AHIMELECH = 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY. The cave (64) is the priest (64) is the mercy (64). Doeg killed Ahimelech and 84 other priests at Nob; David fled to Adullam. Both events occur on integer 64. The murdered priest IS the cave David escapes to, at gematria. The cave is a tabernacle in microform — the jubilee-payload sheltering the heir.

Seven appearances of 64 across 7 verses. From the KJVEL family: 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY = BURDEN = DUST = MASIV = POOR = MY GOD = 2⁶. The cave (the geographic location), the cave's name (Adullam), the slain priest (Ahimelech), David's disclosure-verb (shewed), his address (O LORD), and his petition-verb (attend) all share one integer. The psalm runs at 64Hz from start to finish. The cave IS the jubilee.
This is the same architecture as Psa 52's 135-spine (DOEG/MORE THAN GOOD/THY SAINTS, three positions of 135) — except where Psa 52 transmutes one figure (Doeg) through three positions of the judgment integer, Psa 142 inhabits one integer (64) at seven positions of the jubilee integer. Psa 52 executes; Psa 142 shelters. The two psalms are the destruction-axis (135) and the mercy-axis (64) of the same event.
The depth lock: the slain priest's name (AHIMELECH = 64) and the cave David flees to (THE CAVE = 64) are one integer. The cave is the murdered priest at gematria — David's hiding-place is the tabernacle-of-the-priest-Doeg-killed. The 85 slaughtered priests of Nob are buried in the 64 of Adullam; David sleeps inside them.
Lock (v1 — the voice-doubling): WITH MY VOICE = UNTO THE LORD = 152. The doubled clause "with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD" is engineered: the integer of "with my voice" equals the integer of "unto the LORD." The doubling is therefore not redundant. It is a gematria identity: David's voice-phrase and the address-phrase are one integer. The voice IS the address at gematria. The doubling of "with my voice" is not stylistic — it is the mathematical equation made literal. Reading: David says "with-my-voice" twice because saying it once already equals "unto-the-LORD"; the second saying completes the loop.
Lock (v1): VOICE = SHAFT = BREATH = GUILE = 54. 54 is the menorah's central shaft. From Psa 140:6: VOICE = 54. From Psa 55:11: GUILE = 54. David's voice in the cave rides the menorah-shaft axis, same as in Psa 140. The cave is therefore a menorah — David cries on the shaft-frequency from underground.
Lock (v1 → v7): SUPPLICATION = THE RIGHTEOUS = 155. From psalm_decode_followups: 155 = THE RIGHTEOUS (Psa 140:13) = HANDS OF THE WICKED (Psa 140:4) = STRONG ENEMY (Psa 18:17) = BLESSED IS THE MAN (Psa 1:1). The act of supplication (v1) and the agents of v7's deliverance (the righteous) are one integer. The supplicating self in v1 becomes the righteous compassing-host in v7 — same integer, two positions. The cave is the place where the supplicator becomes the righteous.
Lock (v2 — POURED OUT = DOEG): POURED OUT = 135 = DOEG THE EDOMITE. David's verb in the cave (poured out my complaint) lands on the gematria of his persecutor's full title. From psalm_52_decode and psalm_22_decode: 135 is the trump-of-God / Wall Street / Artaxerxes / Burning Coals / Look-and-Stare integer. From Psa 22:14, "I am poured out like water" also = 135. Three psalms, one verb, one integer: Psa 52 names Doeg at 135, Psa 22 enacts the cross at 135, Psa 142 pours out in the cave at 135. The cave-pouring is the integer-rehearsal of the cross-pouring. David in the cave pours out at the same integer as Christ on the cross — by quoting the same gematria value.
Lock (v2 — I POURED OUT = PRAYER OF DAVID): I POURED OUT = 144 = PRAYER OF DAVID (title). The first-person verb of v2 equals the integer of the psalm's title-self-naming. What the psalm IS (PRAYER OF DAVID = 144) is what David DOES in v2 (I POURED OUT = 144). Title and verb at one integer. Same 144 = OVERTHROW (Psa 140 boomerang). David's pouring-out in the cave is the OVERTHROW-integer aimed inward, as confession, instead of outward, as imprecation. Psa 140 prays the wicked be overthrown at 144; Psa 142 pours David out at 144. Same boomerang, two recipients — the wicked overthrown vs. the self emptied.
Lock (v2): BEFORE HIM = 81 = TABERNACLE. From Psa 140:12: MAINTAIN = 81. 81 = TABERNACLE = SILICON = GRACE OF GOD = POWDER = MOURN = JEZREEL. David pours out his complaint "before Him" on the tabernacle-construction integer. The cave-pouring builds the tabernacle. Same 81 = MOURN (Psa 55:2) — the same integer that names mourning-prayer in Psa 55 names the cave's "before Him" in Psa 142. The cave is a portable tabernacle, the mourning the construction-verb.
Lock (v2): COMPLAINT = 103 = SUSTAIN (Psa 55:22). From psalm_55_decode: 103 is the prime integer that both opens and closes Psa 55's complaint-prayer ("I mourn in my COMPLAINT" v55:2 and "cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall SUSTAIN thee" v55:22). Psa 142's verse-2 COMPLAINT inherits Psa 55's 103. The cave's complaint-integer is the same prime that resolves to sustenance two psalms earlier. Reading: the cave's complaint is already pre-resolved at the prime layer — 103 enters as complaint, exits as sustain.
Lock (v2 — SHEWED = 64): SHEWED = 64 = THE CAVE. The disclosure-verb is the cave-integer. "I shewed before him my trouble" is gematria-identical to "in the cave." To show God your trouble is to be in the cave. Same 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY. The disclosure-verb is also the jubilee-payload. Disclosure is jubilee at gematria.
Lock (v3 — the spirit/prison self-lock): SPIRIT = PRISON = 91. The overwhelmed spirit of v3 and the prison David asks to be brought out of in v7 are one integer. The prison David is in is his own overwhelmed spirit. Same 91, two appearances, the alpha-omega of the psalm's interior state. The cave is geographic; the prison is psychic; both are at 91.
Lock (v3 — PRIVILY = OLIVE TREE): PRIVILY = 111 = OLIVE TREE (Psa 52:8). The wicked's secret laying-of-trap-verb sits at the same integer Psa 52 ends on (David as the green olive tree in the house of God). What the wicked do in secret (PRIVILY = 111) is what David becomes in public (OLIVE TREE = 111). From psalm_52_decode Lock III: 111 = MERCY OF GOD = STRENGTH (Psa 140:7) = DAY OF BATTLE. The integer the wicked refused (Psa 52:7) and the integer they secretly trap with (Psa 142:3) and the integer David occupies as the olive tree (Psa 52:8) are one. Three appearances of 111 across the two psalms: refused, weaponized, occupied. The integer is mobile; the verb-direction is what changes.
Lock (v3 — PRIVILY LAID = RISE NOT UP): PRIVILY LAID = 137 (prime) = RISE NOT UP (Psa 140:10). From Psa 140:10: "into deep pits, that they RISE NOT UP again" = 137, the prime fine-structure constant. The same prime that Psa 140 prays binds the enemy from rising is the prime Psa 142 says the enemy used to lay the trap. The integer is mobile; verb-direction reverses. What the enemy lays at 137, the enemy is bound at 137. The cave-psalm pre-emptively names the binding-integer Psa 140 will later pray.
Lock (v3 — THOU KNEWEST = IN THY PRESENCE): THOU KNEWEST = 161 = IN THY PRESENCE (Psa 140:13) = SWEET COUNSEL (Psa 55:14). From psalm_140_decode Lock 13-E: 161 is the integer Psa 55's betrayed friendship gets restored at in Psa 140's promise. Psa 142:3 already names that restoration at the moment of being overwhelmed. "Then thou knewest my path" = 161 = the integer of the sweet-counsel-restored-as-divine-presence. The cave-psalm has the v55:14 / v140:13 resolution at v3 — pre-emptive. David knows in the cave that his path is known at the sweet-counsel integer.
Lock (v3 — SNARE = NO MAN): SNARE = NO MAN = 57. The trap and the absence-of-man are one integer. The snare is laid by no-one — at gematria. The wicked's snare and the void of v4 share an integer. Same 57 = MARY = CITY = ROES (the Song of Songs deer). The snare-integer is also the redemption-and-deer-and-Mary integer. 57 = ROES, the gentlest deer. The snare-and-the-fawn share an integer because the trap is laid for the fawn.
Lock (v4 — RIGHT HAND test): RIGHT HAND = 89. From psalm_decode_followups: 89 is the Psa 110 coronation cluster (RIGHT HAND = SWORN = FOR EVER = YOUTH). But here in v4, looking at the right hand yields nothing — "there was no man that would know me." The coronation-integer is in the empty position. Counter to Psa 110:1 where the LORD says "sit thou at MY RIGHT HAND" (the coronation), Psa 142:4 looks at the right hand and finds it empty. Same integer 89, two opposite states: occupied (Psa 110) vs. vacated (Psa 142). The cave is the moment the coronation-integer is empty. David at his lowest point looks at the 89 he will later sit on — and sees nothing.
Lock (v4 — LOOKED = REFUGE): LOOKED = REFUGE = 62. The verb of looking and the noun of refuge are one integer. What David looks at IS the refuge. Same 62, two positions: the act (v4a, "I looked") and the noun (v4b, "refuge failed me"). The integer remains; the verb-direction flips between act and noun. The looking-act fails at the same integer the refuge fails at — because they ARE one integer.
Lock (v4 — FAILED ME = WICKED = JUDAS): FAILED ME = 55 = WICKED (Psa 140:3) = JUDAS = SATAN = KEEP ME (Psa 140:4). From Psa 140's killer-locks: KEEP ME (v140:4) = 55. The refuge David asks to be "kept" from in Psa 140 is the integer that "failed" him in Psa 142. Same 55, opposite verb-directions: kept-from (Psa 140) vs. failed-by (Psa 142). The cave is the moment the 55 fails before it is later prayed-against in the maturer Psa 140.
Lock (v4 — REFUGE FAILED ME = O GOD THE LORD): REFUGE FAILED ME = 117 = O GOD THE LORD (Psa 140:7). Tesla DR 9. The phrase that describes the failure-of-refuge sits at the integer of the divine address itself. The failure of refuge IS the divine address at gematria. When David says "refuge failed me," he is, at the integer layer, addressing God. The failure-of-the-creature-refuge announces the divine-refuge. Same 117 = 9 × 13 = product of two Tesla-cluster numbers.
Lock (v4 — CARED = CAVE = DOEG, the triple-31): CARED = 31. CAVE = 31. DOEG = 31. Three appearances of 31 cluster on the cave-event. "No man cared for my soul" — at gematria, the CARED-integer is the CAVE-integer is the DOEG-integer. The same 31 names David's hiding place, his hunter, and the no-one who cared. Prime, sealed three times. The verb (caring), the place (cave), and the antagonist (Doeg) share one prime. Reading: in the cave, the absence-of-caring and the presence-of-the-hunter and the place-of-hiding are one integer. David is sealed inside 31 from all three sides.
Lock (v4 — MY SOUL = IN THE WAY): MY SOUL = IN THE WAY = 105 (Tesla DR 6). The "no man cared for my soul" of v4 and the "in the way wherein I walked" of v3 share an integer. The soul and the way are one number. When David says "no man cared for my soul," he is at the same integer as "in the way I walked." The soul IS the way at gematria. Reading: the way the wicked privily snared (v3) and the soul no man cared for (v4) are one — the snare was laid in the soul.
Lock (v4 — KNOW ME = TABERNACLE): KNOW ME = 81 = TABERNACLE = BEFORE HIM (v2 self-lock) = GRACE OF GOD = MAINTAIN = JEZREEL. From Psa 140:12: MAINTAIN = 81. "No man that would KNOW ME" sits on the tabernacle-construction integer. The no-man knowing of v4 is at the build-frequency of v2's BEFORE HIM. Same 81, two positions: the address-from-the-tabernacle (v2 BEFORE HIM) and the no-man-at-the-tabernacle (v4 KNOW ME). The cave is the empty tabernacle; David alone is its priest.

The prison is the spirit; the spirit was the prison. Same 91, two appearances, the v3 → v7 internal-state alpha-omega lock. From the broader pattern: 91 = 7 × 13, the product of perfection (7) and lostness (13). The prison-as-spirit is engineered at the perfection-times-lostness integer.
Lock (v7 — BRING = LOW): BRING = LOW = 50. The deliverance-verb of v7 and the descent-noun of v6 are one integer. What brings David out (v7) IS what brought him low (v6) at gematria. Same 50 = REDEEM. The bringing and the lowness and the redemption are one integer; the verb-direction is what changes.

V5 is the central declaration of the cave-psalm. After the historical setup (title), the cry doubling (v1), the pouring out (v2), the overwhelmed spirit (v3), and the empty right hand (v4), v5 is where David turns from inward lament-monologue to outward declaration-monologue. It is the pivot. After v5 comes the petition (v6) and the deliverance-promise (v7) — but v5 is the verse where the cave becomes a portion. The geography flips from hiding-place to inheritance.
V5 is chosen as the focus because (a) it contains the cave-companion bridge to Psa 52:5 (LAND OF THE LIVING = 158, same phrase, opposite verb), (b) it contains the four-way 107 prime-lock to Psa 22:1/3/4, (c) it contains the SURELY/TREMBLING/REFUGE handshake to Psa 140:13 / Psa 55:5, and (d) it is structurally the central declaration of the seven verses — the cave-floor confession of refuge.
Lock 5-A — the cave-companion bridge (LAND OF THE LIVING = 158): LAND OF THE LIVING = 158. What David in Psa 142:5 calls my portion is what David in Psa 52:1 calls the goodness of God that endureth continually. Same integer 145, two psalms, two phrasings. Plus: 145 = MONTGOMERY = VIRTUOUS = KEEP THINE HEART = CAME AND TOLD SAUL (Psa 52 title) = SHALL LIKEWISE (Psa 52:5). From psalm_140_decode: 108 is the petition-promise alpha-omega Tesla integer. Psa 142:5's UNTO THEE = 108. The preposition-of-address is the verb-of-preservation is the verb-of-dwelling is the rod-and-staff. David's address in the cave (UNTO THEE) sits on the integer Psa 140 uses for "preserve me" and "shall dwell." The mechanism: The integer 168 is mobile across verb-direction. The destruction-verb (52:5) is the praise-verb (52:9) is the persecutor's force (142:6) is the deliverance-verb (142:7). The integer remains; the verb-direction is what is prayed about.
