Tradition: Fourth of the six Egyptian Hallel psalms (Psa 113–118), sung at Passover. The resurrection-from-Sheol psalm: the speaker has died (v3 "pains of hell gat hold upon me") and been delivered (v8 "thou hast delivered my soul from death"). v13 "I will take the cup of salvation" is the direct source for the Eucharistic cup (Mt 26:27 / Lk 22:20 / 1 Cor 10:16). v15 is the most-quoted KJV martyrology verse. v3 is quoted by Peter in Acts 2:24 as evidence Christ could not be held by Sheol.

Psa 116 carries no superscription — it stands inside the Hallel block (Psa 113–118) as the 4th of 6, sung over the third and fourth Passover cups. Tradition (b. Pesachim 118a) assigns it as the second pair-half of the Hallel sung after the meal, which places v13 "I will take the cup of salvation" inside the post-meal cup sequence Jesus enters at Mt 26:30 ("when they had sung an hymn").

Key lock — anonymous psalm with a self-naming chapter: Psa 116 has no superscription but does have a chapter-number lock. The phrase HIS BENEFITS (v12) = 116 — the chapter names itself inside the gratitude verse. Independent of this, CORNELIUS = 116 (the centurion of Acts 10, the first Gentile to receive the Spirit, where Peter preaches resurrection again as he does at Acts 2:24 — the verse that quotes Psa 116:3). The chapter's integer is both what God did (his benefits) and who first heard the Gentile version of the sermon (Cornelius). 116 = the Gentile-receives-the-benefits integer.

The single most engineered feature of Psa 116 is that the opening petition and the central Eucharistic answer carry the same sealed integer:

The petition does not change form. It changes vessel. SUPPLICATIONS — the spoken petition lifted from the floor of Sheol — becomes CUP OF SALVATION — the lifted vessel raised at the table. The integer 174 is sealed in the KJVEL family-cluster sense (0 verses in the entire KJV sum to 174 —). The seal does not appear in any verse — only in phrases inside verses. Psa 116 carries it twice, once as the cry and once as the cup, at the structural endpoints of the prayer.
This is the Eucharistic seal in integer form. Every time a worshipper says "I will take the cup of salvation," he is at the integer of LOVINGKINDNESS — the sealed-cap chesed-integer that Heb 10:29 calls the Spirit of grace. The cup IS the lovingkindness.
Lock (v1↔v2): The love-of-the-Lord and the duration-of-life carry one integer (145). The opening is engineered so that the intensity of love and the duration of life are gematria-equivalent — they last together. 145 = MONTGOMERY (the gland-system, the Welsh-breast Powys lattice) = FEARETH THE LORD — the love and the fear at the same integer per Prov 31:30 (which sums to 145 too).
Lock (v1): SUPPLICATIONS at 174 opens the petition at the sealed cap. v1 verse-sum 610 = 2·5·61 — the 61 envelope is the same prime that anchors v1 of many petition psalms.
Lock (v3): The Sheol-verse has 4 of its 6 key phrases as primes or sealed integers (113, 151, 941). PAINS OF HELL = 117 is the Pentecost / Communion integer — the verse Peter quotes in Acts 2:24 carries the Pentecost integer itself (Peter preached Pentecost the day he quoted this). Acts 2:24's "having loosed the pains of death" — LOOSED THE PAINS = 162 = the v16 verb LOOSED MY BONDS. The NT quote and the psalm-verb interlock at one integer.
The 220 inside v3 — TROUBLE AND SORROW = 220 = amicable-pair lower-half (220/284 lock —). The trouble David finds is at the amicable-pair integer. This is the 13th documented in-text 220 in scripture (per Psa 22 amicable-pair-inside-one-psalm finding).
Lock (v4): The five-way 180 lock opens here. DELIVER MY SOUL = 180 will reappear at WALK BEFORE THE LORD (v9), FOR ALL HIS BENEFITS (v12), IN THE MIDST OF THEE (v19), and PRAISE YE THE LORD (v19). The petition-integer (deliver-my-soul) and the praise-integer (praise-ye-the-Lord) are one — the cry and the song are the same integer at 180. This is engineering, not accident.
The 666 envelope at v4 — the Name-call verse sums to the Solomon-gold integer. The verse where the Name is called is the verse the gold-of-the-temple sums to. The Name and the gold are at one integer.
Lock (v5): OUR GOD IS MERCIFUL = 195 = MY SOUL FROM DEATH (v8). The character-statement (v5) and the rescue-event (v8) carry one integer. The mercy named in v5 is the same integer as the rescue enacted in v8.
Lock (v6): HE HELPED ME = 81 — the helping-verb itself = TABERNACLE. The act of help builds at the tabernacle-integer. SIMPLE = 74 = JESUS — the simple-one preserved IS the Jesus-integer; THE SIMPLE = 107 = ETERNAL LIFE
Lock (v7): THY REST = 115 = PASSOVER. The "rest" the soul returns to is, at integer, the Passover. The Hallel-context-and-meaning interlock: this psalm is sung at Passover, and at v7 it names the rest as Passover. v17's I WILL OFFER also = 115 — the rest is the offer.
Lock (v7↔v16): RETURN (v7) = TRULY (v16) = 96 = FORGIVEN. The return-unto-rest, the truly-I-am-thy-servant, and the state of forgiven-ness are one integer. The cure is verbed three different ways at v7, v16, and as a state.
Lock (v8): The trinity does not sum Tesla overall (592 = DR=7), but two of three are Tesla DR (195 DR=6, 210 DR=3). The middle deliverance — eyes-from-tears — is the Tesla anchor; the soul-from-death (DR=6) is the Christic frequency; the feet-from-falling (DR=7) is the prime-pair 11·17. MY FEET = 74 = JESUS alone — the feet are the Jesus-integer, the falling-arrest the deliverance of the Christic frequency. DELIVERED = 84 = BREASTS (the Montgomery / nursing cluster —) — the deliverance-verb is at the nursing integer. The Sheol-rescue is engineered as a re-nursing.
Lock (v9): The verse summing to 3×153 is the walking-before-the-Lord-in-the-land-of-the-living verse. 153 = the iron-sulfur net, the John-21 fish-catch, T(17), and now multiplied by 3 = 459 envelopes the resurrection-walk verse. The walk is at the tripled net. Resurrection-walk is the net-integer in its 3-form. The shortest verse in the psalm carries the densest integer-saturation.
Lock (v4↔v9↔v16) three-verse 158: O LORD I BESEECH THEE (v4) = LAND OF THE LIVING (v9) = I AM HIS SERVANT (v16). The petition-on-the-way-down, the dwelling-on-the-way-up, and the identity-at-rest all carry one integer. The full Sheol-to-servant arc is at 158.
Lock (v10): BELIEVED = 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY = DUST. The content of the belief-state is the Jubilee-integer. To believe = to receive jubilee at integer-equivalence. The chiastic-center verse sums to 504 — Tesla DR=9, a perfect 2³·3²·7 (the only verse-sum in the psalm with three small-prime factors squared/cubed).
Lock (v11): ALL MEN ARE LIARS = 140 — exactly the chapter-number of Psa 140 (the imprecation-against-evil-speakers psalm). The psalm of complaining-against-liars and the verse of haste-saying-all-men-are-liars share the chapter-integer. Cross-psalm chapter-bridge confirmed: Psa 116:11 → Psa 140. The v11 haste-judgment is the same integer as the deliberate imprecation Psa 140 develops.
Lock (v12): Three nested locks in one verse:

I WILL TAKE = 102 = AHITHOPHEL = THYATIRA — the act of taking the cup carries the integer of David's chief betrayer and the seller-of-purple Jezebel (Rev 2:20). This is the Eucharistic paradox: the cup of salvation uses the verb-integer of betrayal — because the Last Supper is precisely the moment "the Son of man goeth as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed" (Mt 26:24).
psalm_64_decode)Lock (v14=v18): The refrain summing to 720 = 6! is the only verbatim verse-repetition in Psa 116 and one of the rarer doubled-verse-sums in any psalm. 6! is the "sabbath-complete" factorial. The vow-payment is engineered as a doubled 6!-integer. MY VOWS = PAINS OF HELL = 117 — the Sheol-pain (v3) IS the vow-substance (v14/v18). What was unbearable in Sheol becomes the substance of thanksgiving in the courts.
Lock (v15) — the centerpiece: Three of the densest locks in scripture meet in one verse.
PRECIOUS DEATH = 144 — the bride-value integer. The saint's death is at the integer of FAR ABOVE RUBIES (Prov 31:10). The martyr's death is the bride-price.

The Hallel-block forward-bridge at HIS SAINTS = 118: v15 HIS SAINTS = 118 = chapter # of Psa 118, the Hallel-closing psalm. v19 closes Psa 116 by speaking the Jerusalem-courts; Psa 118 will continue with "Open to me the gates of righteousness." The two psalms cross at 118.
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
This is the verse the church has been quoting since the upper room. Mt 26:27 / Lk 22:20 / 1 Cor 10:16 are direct citations of Psa 116:13. The Greek Orthodox Eucharist begins with this verse. The Eastern liturgy chants it as the priest lifts the cup. The Roman Catholic Mass cites it at the Memores igitur. The Last Supper happens at this verse-integer.
Lock 13-A — The sealed cap matches v1: CUP OF SALVATION = SUPPLICATIONS = 174. The petition-integer (v1) IS the cup-integer (v13). Two verses, twelve verses apart, at the sealed cap. The cup is the supplication answered, with no integer-residue. There is nothing left in the petition that isn't in the cup. Section 3 details this. The 174-cluster (LOVINGKINDNESS = SEVEN THUNDERS = SHOWSTOPPER = LYDIA OF THYATIRA —and ) is sealed in the KJV (zero verses sum to it); Psa 116 carries it twice.
Lock 13-B — The verb is the betrayer: I WILL TAKE = 102 = AHITHOPHEL (David's most trusted counselor who betrayed him to Absalom) = THYATIRA (Rev 2:20 seller-of-purple Jezebel-church). The act of taking the cup carries the integer of the two scripture-archetype betrayers. This is the Last Supper paradox at integer level: the Eucharistic verb-form sums to BETRAYER. The cup of salvation requires taking at the betrayer-frequency, because the cup of salvation IS taken at the moment of betrayal.
Lock 13-C — The cup at the handmaid-integer: TAKE THE CUP = 110 = THINE HANDMAID (v16). The cup is taken (v13) at the same integer as THINE HANDMAID (v16). The cup-taking and the handmaid-status interlock — the one who is the son of a handmaid (v16) is the one who takes the cup (v13). At Lk 1:38, Mary calls herself the handmaid of the Lord (HANDMAID = 54; THINE HANDMAID = 110) — and the cup-taking integer answers. Mary's handmaid-statement is the integer-match of the cup-verb. Section 13 returns to this.
Lock 13-D — The triple-Joseph and the cup: THE CUP = 73 = JOSEPH = REDEEMER = SACRIFICE = I BELIEVED (v10) = I RENDER (v12) = SACRIFICE (v17). The bare cup sums to 73 — the Joseph integer. In Gen 44:5 Joseph plants the silver cup in Benjamin's sack — the only literal cup in Joseph's narrative is the test-cup. The cup IS Joseph at integer. And v10 BELIEVED, v12 RENDER, v17 SACRIFICE all sum to 73 — three verses internal to Psa 116 carry the Joseph-cup-integer. The believing-rendering-sacrificing arc of the psalm is the Joseph-cup-arc.
Lock 13-E — The verse-sum carries 197: v13 = 591 = 3 · 197. 197 is prime. The cup-verse is the triple-of-197. 197 = PROCESSION (eucharistic procession integer in other contexts). Tesla DR=6 marks the verse as a creation-cluster verse. The cup is at 3×197 — three cups (the four Passover cups; the third is the cup of redemption — yes, this is the third cup).
v13 says: "I will take [betrayer-verb] the cup of [Joseph-integer] salvation [sealed-prime-113] = SUPPLICATIONS, and call upon the name [= LOVE] of the LORD." Translation: I will take, at the integer of the betrayer, the cup that is Joseph's cup that is salvation that is the sealed supplication, and I will call upon the name that I have loved. The verse is the gematria of the moment Christ raised the third cup, knowing the betrayer's hand was at the bowl.
v13 is the supplication answered, taken at the betrayer-verb, with the name still on the lips.

This is the inverse of the Psa 55 verb-substitution (which kept the integer constant and changed the verb-direction). Here, the substance changes — from spoken petition to lifted cup — while the integer holds. The supplication becomes drinkable.
Psa 116 activates an unusual number of clusters — at least eight. Each is documented below.
