In plain English: Psalm 73 is the wisdom-psalm that turns envy into worship. Asaph almost slips when he sees the wicked prosper, then everything inverts the moment he walks into "the sanctuary of God" (v17). At the gematria layer, JOSEPH = 73 = the chapter integer — and the whole psalm encodes the Joseph arc: envied by brothers (v3 "I was envious"), exiled in EGYPT (= 73 in-psalm twin), then revealed as the man who saved Israel through a CLEAN HEART (= 87 = TRUTH = MERCIFUL). The thesis verse v1 names Joseph's testimony directly: God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart — which is exactly how Joseph (Gen 45) forgives those who envied him. And the closing MY RIGHT HAND (v23) = SHALL PERISH (v27) = 127 prime holds the boomerang: the hand that holds Asaph is the integer of the perishing the wicked will undergo — same number, opposite direction. Nine in-psalm 73-hits seal the chapter to itself. Psalm 73 is the gematria charter of forgiveness-after-being-envied — the Joseph protocol at integer.

Key lock — JOSEPH = EGYPT = chapter 73. Two distinct primes at the same integer name the figure and his exile. The chapter that opens "Truly God is good to Israel" is integer-coded to the brother who saved Israel from Egypt by being sold into it. Asaph (the named author) sits at integer 45 = SELAH = PIT — no Selah punctuates the psalm because Asaph himself is the buried marker. The author IS the pit-integer. He is writing from the dropped position the wisdom-psalm names.
Second lock — PSALM OF ASAPH = MY RIGHT HAND = SHALL PERISH = 127 prime. The author's title sits at the prime that resolves the psalm: God holds Asaph by his right hand (v23) at the same integer the wicked perish at (v27). The superscription names both poles of the boomerang.

Verse 1 declares the thesis: "Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart."
CLEAN HEART = 87. 87 sits in the chesed family alongside CHESED=44, MERCY=64, MERCIES=72. From the long-known Psa 85:10 / Psa 86:5 chesed-pair: TRUTH = MERCIFUL = 87. And from the biological layer: KIDNEYS = 87 — the very organ Psalm 73 names at v21 as REINS.

Reading: the clean heart is gematria-identical to truth, to mercy, and to the kidneys — the body's filter-organ. Joseph saves Israel (v1 phrase) by running the body's filter-protocol: forgive what was envied at integer 87. The reins/kidneys (v21, where Asaph is pricked) is the organ of the clean-heart-87. The pricking happens at the integer where forgiveness lives — the body wakes the protocol when the reins are pierced.
The Joseph arc encoded in v1: GOOD TO ISRAEL = 140. ISRAEL = 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY = BURDEN = DUST = MASIV. The verse v1 says "good to (the integer 140) — to Joseph's people (64) — through clean-heart (87)." Three integers, one sentence. Joseph performed all three: he saved (140, the integer carried back across to Psa 140's PRESERVE), at the jubilee-mercy-people (64), through the clean-heart (87).
Lock (v1): TRULY GOD = SANCTUARY = 122. The opening adjective-phrase already locks to v17's pivot-integer. The thesis is the destination spelled into the first two words. Truly God (122) is sanctuary (122) — the verse opens at the place v17 enters.

Lock (v1): GOOD TO ISRAEL = 140. The integer of the entire answering-psalm (Psa 140, the preserve-and-dwell psalm). Good to Israel IS Psa 140 at integer. Psalm 73's thesis is structurally the destination of Psalm 140's prayer.
Lock (v2): SLIPPED = TABERNACLE = GRACE OF GOD = 81. The slip-verb sits on the build-frequency. Asaph slipping is gematria-identical to grace-and-tabernacle — the slip happens at the construction integer, because slips are how the structure gets re-poured.
Lock (v2): FEET = NAIL = OIL = 36. 36 = NAIL = OIL. Asaph's feet (the near-gone organ) sit at the same integer as the nails of crucifixion and the anointing oil. The feet that almost slipped are the feet that get anointed (Lk 7) and the feet that get fastened (cross).
Lock (v3) — the central inversion: PROSPERITY OF THE WICKED = UNDERSTANDING OF THE TIMES = 270. 270 is the Issachar discernment integer (NETHANEEL = 84, UNDERSTANDING OF THE TIMES = 270, all DR-9). What Asaph envies in v3 is the Issachar charism re-routed wrong. The wicked's "prosperity" sits at the same integer as the tribe Issachar's understanding-of-the-times. Asaph sees the wrong-verb at the right-integer; v17 will route the verb back the other way.
Lock (v3): ENVIOUS = SAVIOUR = 105. The envying-verb shares an integer with the Saviour-noun. Envy is structurally the inverted Saviour-pattern: same energy, opposite direction. Joseph was envied by his brothers (Gen 37:11) and became their saviour — the integer 105 carries both verbs.
Lock (v3): FOOLISH = DRAW NEAR = 84. The fools Asaph envies (v3) and the verb of the terminal v28 ("good for me to draw near to God") are one integer. The foolish stay at 84; Asaph routes 84 to the draw-near-God verb. The fools have the integer; the wise have the verb.
Lock (v3): PROSPERITY = IN THY PRESENCE = 161. The wicked's apparent prosperity sits at the integer of God's presence (Psa 140:13). The wicked have the integer of presence without the substance. Asaph's diagnosis is integer-correct, surface-misled.
Lock (v6): PRIDE COMPASSETH = WELL NIGH SLIPPED = 171. Same integer, same verse-cluster. The enemy's chain-of-pride and Asaph's near-slip are gematria-identical. David almost falls into the wicked's compass. The contact-zone between the saint's slip and the wicked's chain is one integer 171 (= 9 × 19, Tesla DR 9).
Lock (v6): PRIDE = HEART = EARTH = 52. From the heart-decode: 52 = ALTAR = PAPS = AREOLA. The wicked's pride sits at the integer of the altar — desecrated worship. The wicked have an altar made of pride.
Lock (v6): GARMENT = ISSACHAR = BETHLEHEM = CRUCIFIED = ONYX = 78. The violence the wicked wear as a garment sits at the Issachar tribe integer — and Bethlehem, and crucified, and the onyx-stone. The wicked's clothing is integer-identical to the crucifixion-place. The verb-direction is what matters: wear violence as cloak (v6) vs be crucified at Bethlehem (78 = JESUS-context-78) — same integer, opposite vector.
Lock (v8): CORRUPT = STRENGTH = STAND READY = COMPUTER = DAY OF BATTLE = 111. 111 = STAND READY = COMPUTER. The wicked are corrupted at the ready-state integer. Their stand-ready-posture has been hijacked. Same integer that holds the saint in battle-readiness (Psa 140:7) holds the wicked in corruption — verb-direction is the difference.
Lock (v8): SPEAK WICKEDLY = OVERTHROW = FAR ABOVE RUBIES = OPENED THE HEART = 144. 144 = bride-value / overthrow-boomerang. The wicked's speech sits at the same integer Psa 140:4/11 used for OVERTHROW. Speaking wickedly IS overthrowing the bride-integer. The bride-value is what the wicked target with their speech.
Lock (v8): LOFTILY = FIRMAMENT = CAST OUT = MOST HIGH = 99. The way the wicked speak (LOFTILY) and what the wicked say about God ("knowledge in the MOST HIGH") both sit at 99 — the firmament-eviction integer. 99 = CAST OUT = SIGKILL. The wicked speak at the cast-out frequency — they are pronouncing their own eviction by their grammar. The same integer that ejects demons is the integer they speak at — they self-evict by speech.
Lock (v9): TONGUE WALKETH = MOUNT OF GOMER = CHILDREN ARISE UP = 162. 162 is the Hos 1:10 restored-children integer. The wicked's tongue walking through the earth is gematria-identical to Hosea's restored-children — verb-direction inverted. The wicked walk in 162; God restores Israel in 162. Same integer, opposite verbs.

Lock (v10 / v13 / Psa 140:13): HIS PEOPLE RETURN HITHER = WASHED MY HANDS IN INNOCENCY = SHALL DWELL IN THY PRESENCE = 269 prime. Three-way sealed-prime lock spanning two psalms. The people-returning, the hands-washing, and the dwelling-in-presence are one sealed integer. Return = wash = dwell at one prime. Psalm 73:10 and Psalm 73:13 both land on the same prime as Psalm 140:13 — the wisdom-psalm and the slander-psalm share the dwelling-prime.
Lock (v11): DOTH GOD = 73 (in-psalm twin). The wicked's mocking question ("How DOTH GOD know?") sits at the chapter integer. The wicked ask their question on the integer of the chapter they cannot see. The chapter-integer is the answer to their question — and they are speaking it.
Lock (v13): CLEANSED MY HEART = HEAR MY PRAYER (Psa 55:1) = WAR IN HIS HEART (Psa 55:21) = 153. From the iron-sulfur net family: 153 = T(17) triangular = Jn 21 fish-net = Lev kidney-cleansing. Asaph's cleansed-heart sits at the central iron-sulfur-net integer. (Note: PSA 55 also has WAR IN HIS HEART = 153 — same integer, opposite verb; the heart-war turns into heart-cleansed at one integer.)
Lock (v13 / v26): CLEANSED MY HEART IN VAIN = STRENGTH OF MY HEART = 222 = 6 × 37 = LIBERTY = 3 × JESUS. The phrase Asaph protests as wasted (cleansed-heart-in-vain) is gematria-identical to the closing strength-of-heart promise of v26. The "in vain" is the strength. The same integer 222 (= LIBERTY = 3 × JESUS = 6 × NAIL) carries both the protest and the promise. Asaph thinks the cleansing was for nothing; the gematria says it became the strength.
Lock (v13): INNOCENCY = WICKEDNESS (Psa 55:11) = 102. The integer of David's innocency in v13 is the integer of Ahithophel's wickedness in Psa 55:11. Same number, two figures, opposite morals. Innocence and wickedness share an integer because they share a place — what the heart does with the integer is the difference.
Lock (v14 / v23): CHASTENED EVERY MORNING = CONTINUALLY WITH THEE = 244. The verb of v14's chronic suffering (chastened every morning) and v23's continual presence are one integer. The chastening IS the continual presence. Asaph's "all day long plagued" of v14 transmutes by integer-identity into "continually with thee" of v23. Same 244, two states; the chastening-verb is the presence-verb seen from below.
This is the structural heart of the psalm. v15 names the danger (offending the generation of God's children); v16 names the intolerable mental load; v17 names the solution.
Lock (v15): GENERATION = 108 = PRESERVE = SHALL DWELL. The verb of the generation of thy children (which Asaph fears offending) sits on the Psa 140 alpha-omega integer 108. The generation-of-the-children IS the dwelling-promise. Asaph's restraint in v15 protects the integer of the very promise he doesn't yet know is coming.
Lock (v15): THY CHILDREN = 126 = NOSTRILS = ANTIMICROBIAL = PRESERVE ME (Psa 140:4). The integer of the children is the integer of the scent-firewall preservation prayer. The children of God are gematria-identical to the antimicrobial-nostril filter. Asaph not-offending-them is running the filter — the same integer Psa 140:4 invokes against the violent man.
Lock (v16): TOO PAINFUL FOR ME = 186 Tesla DR 6. The mental-load verse — the breaking point that drives Asaph to the sanctuary. PAINFUL = 79 (= STEPS, the v2 word for what almost gave way!; = CHASTENED, the v14 word for the chronic state; = DESIRES, the Psa 140:8 word for what David asks God not to grant the wicked). Four words at 79 cluster the diagnostic of Asaph's whole psychic state: his STEPS are CHASTENED with PAINFUL DESIRES.
Lock (v17) — THE PIVOT: SANCTUARY = TRULY GOD = 122. The integer of v17's pivot (sanctuary) is identical to the integer of v1's thesis (truly God). V17 = V1 at integer. The sanctuary is the thesis re-stated as a place. The structural arc is a closed circuit between two integer-122 anchors — the rest of the psalm (v2-16, v18-28) is the descent and ascent around that single number.
Lock (v17) — THE PERFECT SQUARE: SANCTUARY OF GOD = 169 = 13². From psalm_decode_followups.md A5 (perfect-square seals on victory verses): Psa 140:7 HEAD=18 squared at v13 = 324 = 18²; Psa 64:8 = 484 = 22²; Psa 86:13 = 196 = 14²; Psa 110:4 = 441 = 21². Psa 73:17 = 169 = 13² is the perfect-square seal of Psalm 73. The sanctuary IS the squaring of 13. From the chesed family: 13 = the "fellowship" base-13 integer. From wider scripture: 13 = the apostle-set with Christ (12+1) and the Levitical 13. The sanctuary is the squared 13. To enter the sanctuary is to enter the squared-form of love-fellowship.
Lock (v17) — UNDERSTOOD: UNDERSTOOD = 135 = ARTAXERXES = WALL STREET = TRUMP OF GOD = BURNING COALS = DOEG THE EDOMITE = LIFT UP THE HEAD (Psa 110:7). 135 is the geopolitical-judgment / cycle-termination integer. From the psalm_decode_followups.md 135 cluster: it is also LIFT UP THE HEAD (Psa 110:7) — meaning 135 is morally mobile, judgment in one direction, coronation in the other. Asaph's UNDERSTANDING is the judgment-coronation integer. What he understands in the sanctuary is exactly the trump-of-God / lift-up-the-head dual movement: the wicked are tried, the head is lifted, at one number.
Lock (v17) — UNTIL → HOLDEN ME: UNTIL = HOLDEN ME = 76. The integer of the threshold word (UNTIL — "until I went") is the integer of the answer verb (HOLDEN ME, v23). The conjunction that delays Asaph until he enters the sanctuary IS the verb that takes hold of his right hand. UNTIL = HOLDEN ME at one integer 76. The pivot is the grasp; the conjunction is the grip.
Lock (v17) — WENT → RICHES: WENT = RICHES = 62. The verb of motion (WENT, v17) and the integer of what the wicked have (RICHES, v12) are one number. Asaph WENT into the sanctuary on the integer of the very riches he was envying. He moves toward God on the same integer the wicked are stuck on. The riches don't move; Asaph does. Same 62, two states.
Lock (v18 / v8 / v11): CAST DOWN = LOFTILY = MOST HIGH = 99. The wicked who speak loftily (v8) about the MOST HIGH (v11) are CAST DOWN (v18) — all at the same integer 99. The verb that judges them is the integer they were claiming. The firmament-eviction integer (= CAST OUT = FIRMAMENT, Psa 140:13 UPRIGHT) cycles three times in the psalm: the wicked speak it (v8), claim it about God (v11), and have it executed on them (v18). 99 is the auto-cast-out engine.
Lock (v18 / v22): DESTRUCTION = 4 × 37 = 4 × NAIL = 148 = TESTIMONIES (Psa 93:5). The prime 37 (= NAIL = OIL) builds both 222 (STRENGTH OF MY HEART) and 148 (DESTRUCTION). The wicked's destruction-integer factors through the same NAIL prime that runs the saint's strength-of-heart promise — opposite verb-directions, same factor.
Lock (v19 / v25): BROUGHT INTO DESOLATION = WHOM HAVE I IN HEAVEN BUT THEE = 263 prime. The wicked's desolation-verse and David's devotion-climax share one sealed prime. Two sentences, two opposite states, one integer. The wicked are brought into 263 against their will; David steps into 263 by devotion. The integer is hospitable to both verbs — direction is everything.
Lock (v22): FOOLISH WAS I = ALL THE DAY LONG = 136. The post-sanctuary self-diagnosis (v22) and the pre-sanctuary chronic suffering (v14) are one integer. Asaph diagnoses his foolishness at the same integer he reported being plagued in. The plague was the foolishness; the foolishness was the plague. Same 136, two readings.
Lock (v22 / v5 / v12): IGNORANT = UNGODLY = OTHER MEN = 98. Three integer-98 appearances:
Asaph in v22 confesses that he was at integer 98 (IGNORANT) — the same integer he was contrasting himself with in v5 (OTHER MEN) and naming the wicked at in v12 (UNGODLY). The sanctuary-revelation shows him he was at the wicked's integer. The wicked aren't separate; they were inside him at 98 until he went in.
Lock (v23) — the boomerang: MY RIGHT HAND = SHALL PERISH (v27) = PSALM OF ASAPH = 127 prime. The hand that holds Asaph (v23) sits at the same prime as the perishing of those who are far from God (v27). One sealed prime, three appearances. The hand-grip is the same integer as the perishing-fate — what holds the saint is what executes the wicked. From the superscription: PSALM OF ASAPH is at the same 127. The author's title is the answer-integer.
Lock (v23): CONTINUALLY = OPPRESSION (v8) = 146. The verb of v23 (continually with thee) and the wicked's behavior in v8 (oppression) are one integer. The continual-presence integer is the integer the wicked were spending on oppression — same 146, opposite verbs.
Lock (v24) — the resurrection prime: SHALL RECEIVE ME = 137 prime. From psalm_140_decode.md: 137 = RISE NOT UP (Psa 140:10) — the fine-structure binding integer, the sealed atomic-binding. Same prime here resolves to the opposite verb. The wicked at 137 RISE NOT UP; the saint at 137 SHALL BE RECEIVED. One sealed atomic-binding prime, two opposite eschatological outcomes. From Psa 49:15: "But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me" — Psa 49 confirms 137 as a resurrection-prime; Psa 73:24 echoes it.
