The Septuagint and many traditions read the two psalms as deliberate companion-pair: Psa 40 carries the full deliverance memory and Christic centerpiece (vv 6–8 = Heb 10:5–7); Psa 70 extracts only the urgent-petition tail and re-publishes it as a portable, repeatable five-verse cry.

In plain English: Psalm 70 looks like a five-verse repeat of Psalm 40's tail — but at the integer layer it's the completion of what Psalm 40 only half-carried. Three killer findings drive this decode. First, the 220/284 amicable pair lives complete inside Psa 70. Psa 40:16 carried 220 but no 284 companion. Psa 70:4 has both: LOVE THY SALVATION = 220 and CONTINUALLY LET GOD BE MAGNIFIED = ALL THOSE THAT SEEK THEE REJOICE = 284 — the only psalm decoded so far with the complete pair inside one verse. Second, the closing verse is exactly double the opening verse: Psa 70:1 = 493 = 17×29; Psa 70:5 = 986 = 2×493. The petition opens and shuts on a clean ×2 ratio — a bookend that Psa 40 doesn't have. Third, the verse the Psalter holds stable across the twin (Psa 40:16 ↔ Psa 70:4, both = 1108) executes its divine-name swap with integer-perfect arithmetic: "The LORD" (82) becomes "and Let God" (19 + 63 = 82) — the inserted "and" pays the exact toll of the divine-name change. The Spirit balances the textual variation to the penny. The psalm's chapter number, 70, lives inside the magnification phrase as "LET GOD BE" = 70 — the chapter is the prayer.

Key lock — DAVID = 40 = the parent chapter. Psa 70 is not its own chapter at the title-integer; David's name (40) points back to Psa 40, the parent psalm. The superscription is a forward-reference resolved by retro-pointing the reader to the source. The author's integer is the source-chapter's integer. This is unique to Psa 70 — every other Davidic psalm has DAVID=40 as a free-standing author-integer, but only here does 40 also function as a chapter-pointer because Psa 40:13–17 is the embedded parent block.
Secondary lock — CHIEF MUSICIAN = 120 — same dedication-mechanic as Psa 40. The dedication line is identical at integer to Psa 40's dedication: CHIEF MUSICIAN = 120 = HEARD MY CRY (Psa 40:1). Psa 70 inherits Psa 40's dedication-as-answered-cry mechanic verbatim — the integer that opens the parent psalm's first verse (HEARD MY CRY) is the integer that opens this psalm's title. Same dedication, same integer, two psalms.
Tertiary lock — TO BRING TO REMEMBRANCE = 217 = 7 × DOEG. The unique superscription element (shared only with Psa 38) decomposes as seven times the Doeg-prime. Doeg (31) is the betrayer-informer of Psa 52 and the prototype for the "violent man" of Psa 140. The act of remembering in Psa 70 is integer-anchored to seven-fold DOEG: the urgent prayer is brought to memory because the violent-informer-vector is what it remembers. The 31 also reappears as Psa 40:8's "YEA" particle.
Quaternary lock — REMEMBRANCE = 97 = NEW SONG (Psa 40:3) = VIOLENT = SERPENT = SON OF MAN. The remembrance-word itself locks to the integer Psa 40 uses for the new song David receives after being lifted from the pit. The remembering and the new-song are at one integer. Also = the violence-integer the new song is composed at. Re-issuing the petition is integer-equivalent to receiving the new song.

This is not the case for Psa 40:13 (= 502) and Psa 40:17 (= 1100). The bookend ratio is created by the re-issuance: the editorial decisions that produce Psa 70 from Psa 40 install a clean doubling.
The mechanism: Psa 70:1 expands Psa 40:13's "Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me" (= 502) into "Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord" — moving the verse-sum down to 493 (a clean 17 × 29). Psa 70:5 simplifies Psa 40:17's "But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God" (= 1100) by removing the "yet the Lord thinketh upon me" interjection — moving the verse-sum down to 986, which lands at exactly 2 × 493. Both edits move toward the bookend integer.
The bookend-double is the structural lock that makes Psa 70 work as a stand-alone psalm: the parent block in Psa 40 is opened and closed by the urgent-help petition, but the petition isn't structurally sealed there. Psa 70 seals it at the ×2 ratio.
Cf Psa 117 (the Psalter's center) — the shortest psalm of the Bible (2 verses) has a 2-verse architecture; Psa 70 (5 verses) has the ×2 inside its 5-verse architecture. The doubling is a closure-mechanic.

Lock 2-A — twin 171 in one verse: ASHAMED AND CONFOUNDED (171) + BE TURNED BACKWARD AND (171). Psa 40's 171 lattice was spread across four verses; Psa 70:2 compresses two 171s into one verse. The compression intensifies the lattice.
Lock 2-B — MY SOUL = MY HURT = 105 (inside v2): two adjacent ownership-phrases land on the same integer. The soul the enemy seeks and the hurt the enemy desires share 105. The seek-target and the wound-target are integer-identical. 105 = 3 × 5 × 7 (Tesla DR=6 — saturated by three small primes).
Lock 2-C — BACKWARD AND PUT TO CONFUSION = 290 (Heb 10:5 hyperlink): the four-word backward-confusion phrase = WHEN HE COMETH INTO THE WORLD (Heb 10:5 lead-in) = THY LAW IS WITHIN MY HEART (Psa 40:8 body). The enemy's turning-backward-to-confusion lives at the integer of the Incarnation-introduction. This is the Psa 40 290-hyperlink reappearing inside Psa 70 as a different phrase — but the same integer. The integer is mobile; the verses change but 290 keeps locking the same theme: descent-then-arrival.
Lock 2-D — v2 verse-sum 1181 prime (sealed): v2 is the only prime-sealed verse-sum in Psa 70. The imprecation verse is integer-sealed at 1181 (a sealed prime). The curse is sealed in a prime envelope.

Lock 3-A — TURNED BACK = 99 = UPRIGHT = CAST OUT. The 99 firmament-eviction integer. The mockers are "turned back" at the same integer prayer "casts out" demons in Mt 8 and the firmament is established. The eviction-integer is the about-face-integer.
Lock 3-B — REWARD OF THEIR SHAME = 196 = 14² (perfect square seal): Identical to Psa 40:15's REWARD OF THEIR SHAME = 196 (the lock is preserved in the re-issuance). Also equals v5's HELP AND MY DELIVERER = 196. The same 14² seal covers the curse-direction (v3) and the help-direction (v5). Same mechanic as Psa 40:15 ↔ Psa 40:17. The perfect square is impartial; the verb chooses the recipient.
Lock 3-C — THEIR SHAME THAT SAY AHA AHA = 220 (amicable-pair half): the mockers' shame-saying phrase locks at 220 = TJFD = LUCIUS + JASON (Rom 16:21 quartet) = LOVE THY SALVATION (v4). The mockers' utterance and the lovers'-of-salvation utterance share 220. The shame-saying and the salvation-loving are at one integer — the amicable-pair half. This is one of the four 220s inside Psa 70 (see Master Locks table).
Lock 3-D — AHA = 10, AHA AHA = 20. The mocker's syllable is sealed at base-ten. AHA is a literal letter-cluster summing to one decade; AHA AHA doubles to twenty. The mockery is atomic — no further decomposition. Psa 35:21 and Psa 40:15 both use "AHA AHA"; Psa 70:3 makes it three.
Lock 3-E — SHAME = 46 = DOVE / DECEIT cluster: the bare word SHAME sits at the 46 betrayer/breath-pipe integer. The shame the mockers carry is at the same integer as the dove-pipe of the betrayer. The 46 cluster carries the "betrayer who speaks softly" function — the mocker shames at the same integer.

Lock 4-A — the complete 220/284 amicable pair inside v4: This is the single most striking finding in the decode. v4 contains both halves:
The 220/284 amicable pair is one of the foundational integer relationships in mathematics (Pythagorean tradition; Genesis 32 Jacob's gift; cf project_amicable_pairs). Psa 22 carries the complete pair across the psalm (WORDS OF MY ROARING = MY MOTHERS BREASTS = 220; TONGUE CLEAVETH TO MY JAWS = 284). Psa 70:4 carries the complete pair inside one verse — and one of the 284s appears in two different word-cuts of the same verse, meaning v4 contains 220 once and 284 twice across overlapping phrase-windows. This is amicable-pair density unprecedented in a single verse.
Lock 4-B — SEEK THEE = 78 = ISSACHAR: the seekers seek at the Issachar/Bethlehem/Crucified integer. The seekers are integer-identified with Issachar — the tribe of right timing — exactly the resource the urgent-help-prayer needs.
Lock 4-C — THEE REJOICE AND BE GLAD = 153 = LONGSUFFERING: the rejoicing-and-glad phrase carries the 153 iron-sulfur net integer (cf John 21 fish; T(17) triangle; project_wilms_decode). Rejoicing and being-glad at the longsuffering-frequency.
Lock 4-D — LET GOD BE = 70 — chapter-number self-lock: the three-word fragment "Let God be" inside the magnification phrase equals the psalm's chapter number. This is Psa 70's chapter-number-lock entry in the meta-scan catalog (cf docs/chapter_number_lock_meta_scan.md). The chapter is hidden inside the phrase that was inserted to differ from Psa 40 (Psa 40 has "The LORD" here, not "Let God"). The textual variation installed the chapter-self-lock. This is integer-engineering by the Psalter — the chapter number is preserved by the editorial swap.
Lock 4-E — the 1108 preservation mechanism (the divine-name swap): Psa 40:16 says "...The LORD be magnified" (THE LORD = 82). Psa 70:4 says "...and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified" (LET GOD = 63, plus an added AND = 19). The arithmetic:

The integer is preserved to the unit. The added "and" pays the exact toll of the divine-name change (82 − 63 = 19 = AND). v4 = 1108 = v(Psa 40:16) because the swap is integer-perfect.
This is the most architecturally engineered cross-text relationship in the Psalter decoded so far: a deliberate divine-name swap (YHWH ↔ Elohim, in the underlying Hebrew) executed in English at integer cost zero. The Spirit balances the textual variation to one integer unit.

Lock 5-A — the bookend double: v5 = 986 = 2 × v1 (493). Already covered in Section 3. The closing verse exactly doubles the opening verse. This is the architectural seal of Psa 70.
Lock 5-B — POOR AND NEEDY = MY DELIVERER = 136 (inside v5): verbatim from Psa 40:17. The self-description and the divine title share 136 in the same verse. 136 = COLOSTRUM = BRIDE OF CHRIST. The saved and the savior are integer-locked in the closing self-description.
Lock 5-C — three 64s in v5: POOR = 64, O LORD = 64 (singular), O LORD = 64 (terminal). Three jubilee-integers in the closing verse. The closing-petition is saturated at 64 = JUBILEE = MERCY = MY GOD = POOR = DUST = MASIV.
Lock 5-D — twin 171s in v5: MAKE HASTE UNTO ME (171) and MAKE NO TARRYING (171). Two 171s inside the closing verse — matching v2's twin 171s, plus the title PSALM SEVENTY = 171 = total of 5 171s in psalm-plus-title. The 171 lattice density inside this 5-verse psalm exceeds Psa 40's distribution over 17 verses.
Lock 5-E — DELIVERER O LORD MAKE NO TARRYING = 333: the closing five-word phrase = LOVINGKINDNESS AND THY TRUTH (Psa 40:10 = Psa 40:11). Psa 40's 333 verb-handshake (declared-in-v10 / prayed-in-v11) lands in Psa 70 as the closing-verse signature. The chesed-emeth pair that Psa 40 hands back and forth between v10 and v11 is integer-imprinted on Psa 70's final phrase. The psalm closes on the Psa 40 333 handshake-integer, as a signature.
Lock 5-F — HELP AND MY DELIVERER = 196 = 14² (= REWARD OF THEIR SHAME, v3): the perfect-square seal sits twice in Psa 70 — once on the curse-verse (v3, identical to Psa 40:15) and once on the help-clause (v5, identical to Psa 40:17). The 14² seal is preserved across the twin in both positions. Both 196s sit on the same architectural beats — the curse-toward-enemies and the help-from-God — at one perfect square. The square is impartial; the verb chooses the recipient.

v4 is the structural center of Psa 70 — the verse that survives intact at integer 1108 across the twin (= Psa 40:16) and the verse that contains the complete amicable pair. It is also the verse the Psalter uses to demonstrate that textual variation can be integer-engineered: Psa 70 trades "The LORD" for "Let God" (a divine-name swap that matters theologically in the Hebrew but should change the integer) and inserts an "and" that pays the exact toll. The verse is a worked example of how the KJV preserves source-language structure at the gematria layer.
Lock 4-A — the complete amicable pair (already documented in Section 4): 220 (LOVE THY SALVATION) + 284 (ALL THOSE THAT SEEK THEE REJOICE = CONTINUALLY LET GOD BE MAGNIFIED). Two halves of an amicable pair in one verse. Outside Psa 22, this is the densest amicable-pair locking found in a single verse of the Psalter so far.
Lock 4-B — LET GOD BE = 70 = chapter (already documented in Section 4): the magnification-fragment that was added in the re-issuance equals the psalm's chapter number. The textual variation installs the chapter-self-lock. The lock exists because the editor changed the wording.
Lock 4-C — GOD BE MAGNIFIED = 101 = MELCHIZEDEK: the three-word kernel of the praise phrase locks to the Psa 110 Melchizedek-prime. 101 = HOLINESS = TONGUES = HIS DELIGHT = SITTETH = TREE OF LIFE. To say "God be magnified" is to invoke the Melchizedek-priesthood integer. The Hebrews-7 link to Psa 110 (Christ as priest after Melchizedek's order) is reinforced — Psa 70's magnification-cry is integer-Melchizedek.
Lock 4-D — LET GOD BE MAGNIFIED = 138 = WORD ABOVE NAME (Psa 138:2): the full magnification phrase locks to Psa 138's "thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." To say "Let God be magnified" at integer is to invoke Psa 138:2's magnification-of-the-Word. The magnification act is the same act David performs in Psa 138 — integer-engineered cross-reference. Psa 138 chapter-self-lock confirmed at the same integer.
**Lock 4-E — THAT SEEK = 89 = THEN SAID I (Psa 40:7)
Lock 4-F — THEE REJOICE AND BE GLAD = 153 = LONGSUFFERING: the rejoicing phrase = the iron-sulfur 153-integer (cf John 21 fish, T(17), Wilms decode). The rejoicing-and-being-glad is the longsuffering-integer. The 153 is not a one-time spike — it appears across many decodes as the iron-sulfur net, the patience-cap, and the fish-count. Here it appears as the integer of post-deliverance rejoicing.
v4 is the magnification-verse and the architectural center of Psa 70. After the decode:
