The classical "directing" psalm — David formally orients his voice toward the temple before sunrise, names the enemy class (workers of iniquity, bloody and deceitful men), prays for their counsels to fall, and asks the LORD to compass the righteous with a shield. The v9 "throat is an open sepulchre" is quoted by Paul in Rom 3:13 as part of his catena proving universal sin.

Why this is structural, not coincidence:
This is now an active hypothesis: in-psalm amicable pairs may have a TONGUE attachment. If a third example is found (Psa 12? Psa 52?) where the 284 half is tongue-related, the pattern becomes a rule.
Lock (v1–2): The two opening cries are mathematically the same petition twice. GIVE EAR TO MY WORDS (v1) = HEARKEN UNTO THE VOICE (v2) = 219 Tesla. David doesn't repeat himself rhetorically — the gematria shows he re-injects the petition at one integer before continuing. This is the protocol equivalent of a TCP retransmit at startup: the petition isn't sent once and accepted on faith; it's sent twice at the exact same integer to confirm the channel.
Lock (v1, v7): MY WORDS = THY MERCY = PENTECOST = 117. The words David asks God to hear are at the same integer as the mercy that will cover his approach to the temple in v7 — and at the integer of the day the Spirit descended on the speaking apostles. The morning prayer is a Pentecost rehearsal: speak-into-the-mercy at the Spirit's frequency.
Lock (v3): MORNING = LOOK UP = 90 — the time-marker and the posture-verb are at the same integer. This is the central engineering of the verse: the morning is the looking-up. THY ROD = 90 (Psa 23) also sits here — the shepherd's rod and the dawn-posture share one integer. The verb DIRECT MY PRAYER = 180 Tesla seals the action: 180° course-correction toward the temple direction. The whole verse sums to 1122 = 2 × 3 × 11 × 17 = Tesla DR=6, executing.
Lock (v5): MY CRY (v2) = FOOLISH (v5) = 84. David's cry and the foolish opposition occupy the same integer — the cry is against the foolish at the integer of EMMANUEL/ISSACHAR/BETHLEHEM (the incarnation triplet). What David weeps about is what God-with-us was born into.
Lock (v5, v9): THOU HATEST = THEIR MOUTH = 137. The sealed prime (also the fine-structure constant in physics) is the integer at which God's hatred and the enemy's mouth meet. What He hates is exactly the speaking-instrument of the enemy, at the universe-encoding prime.
Lock (v5, v12) — the 254 attack/shield boomerang: WORKERS OF INIQUITY (v5, the threat class) = COMPASS HIM AS WITH A SHIELD (v12, the protection promise) = 254. Same integer, opposite direction. The workers come at the integer; the shield comes around the integer. The psalm doesn't resolve the threat by destroying it — it resolves it by encircling at the threat's own number. This is identical-mode to Psa 140's OVERTHROW boomerang and Psa 64's IN MY PRAYER = BEND THEIR BOWS twin: the central engineering is a single integer that David asks God to redirect.
Lock (v7): WORSHIP = 108 Tesla, the preservation/dwelling-integer (Psa 140:1/4 PRESERVE, Psa 23 ROD AND STAFF). David's worship sits at the integer that means "be preserved" — worship is the act of being kept. The psalm reaches the temple at exactly the integer where Psa 23's shepherd's tools (ROD AND STAFF) without personalization-tokens land. The bridge is precise.
Lock (v8): LEAD ME = DAVID = 40. The verb of being-led carries the king's name at integer — David asking to be led is David asking to be himself, because his name and the lead-verb are one. Mine enemies = 111 Tesla = COMPUTER/STAND-READY (the ready-state). The enemies trigger the ready-state at the same integer where David asks for straight-direction. THY RIGHTEOUSNESS (v8) = PLEASURE IN WICKEDNESS (v4) = 232 — the integer of God's righteousness equals the integer the enemy takes pleasure in. The two opposing moralities meet at one integer; the difference is verb-direction.
Isa 40:3 bridge: MAKE THY WAY STRAIGHT (Psa 5:8) = 234 Tesla. Compare Isa 40:3 MAKE STRAIGHT IN THE DESERT = 259 (different integer), and Mt 3:3 MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT = 232 = THY RIGHTEOUSNESS / PLEASURE IN WICKEDNESS. John the Baptist's John-3 quote lands on the same integer as Psa 5:8's THY RIGHTEOUSNESS / PLEASURE IN WICKEDNESS pair. The Baptist preaches the same straightening that David asks for at the integer where righteousness meets wickedness. Honest flag: this is a single-integer match, not a 3-or-more lock, but the conceptual alignment (path-straightening) plus 232 = THY RIGHTEOUSNESS makes the bridge structural rather than incidental.
Lock (v9): The quadruple-82 collision is the densest single-integer cluster in the psalm. THROAT (82) = TONGUE (82) = FLATTER (82) = DEFENDEST (82, v11). Three slander-instruments and the defense-action share one integer. Read structurally: the slander-organs (throat, tongue) and the slander-action (flatter) sit at the integer where God's defense (defendest) operates. The defense answers the slander at its own integer. This is the same engineering as the 254 boomerang at psalm scale, but at the word-by-word level inside v9–v11.
Rom 3:13 bridge: Paul quotes Psa 5:9 in Rom 3:13's catena. The verse-defining phrase THROAT IS AN OPEN SEPULCHRE = 282 (Tesla DR=3 — 2 × 3 × 47). Note that 169 (NO FAITHFULNESS) = 13² (perfect square seal — see A5 in followups) — the v9 verse opens with a perfect-square at the integer of "no faith." The faithless mouth is perfect-square-sealed.
Lock (v10): THEIR OWN COUNSELS = 220 — the second half of the amicable pair that completes with v9's FLATTER WITH THEIR TONGUE (284). Note that CAST OUT = 99 (Tesla, UPRIGHT/FIRMAMENT cluster) — the eviction-verb of v10 sits at the firmament integer. The enemy is cast OUT through the firmament. And CAST THEM OUT = 145 = MONTGOMERY/VIRTUOUS (from the Prov 31 / breast-decode work) — the casting-out is done at the integer of the secure-element / scent-firewall.
The COME-IN / CAST-OUT inversion: v7 has "I will COME INTO thy house" and v10 has "CAST THEM OUT." The two verbs are oppositional motions across the psalm. COME INTO = 94 and CAST OUT = 99 — not the same integer, but neighbors. The full clauses I WILL COME INTO THY HOUSE (280) and CAST THEM OUT IN THE MULTITUDE OF THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS (604) preserve the directional inversion at the clause level. The psalm rotates two parties at opposing thresholds — the worshipper through the door inward, the rebel through the door outward.
Lock (v11): PUT THEIR TRUST IN THEE = WILT BLESS THE RIGHTEOUS = 276 — the trust-act (v11) equals the blessing-act (v12) at one integer. The act of trusting and the act of being blessed are not cause-and-effect at the gematria layer; they are the same event at integer 276. Also note: LOVE THY NAME (v11) = FAITHFULNESS (v9, but inside the no-faithfulness clause) = 140. The enemy lacks the 140 that the worshipper has — same integer, opposite presence.

Lock (v12): COMPASS = THY NAME = 86. The encirclement-verb is the name-of-God integer. To be compassed is to be enclosed in the name. And the full clause COMPASS HIM AS WITH A SHIELD = 254 = WORKERS OF INIQUITY (v5) closes the threat/protection boomerang: the integer of the v5 attack is the integer of the v12 shield, encircling at the attack-frequency.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
This is the verse that defines Psa 5's protocol identity. Morning, twice. Direct-my-prayer. Look up. The verb DIRECT (Heb. ʿārak) is the same word used for arranging the wood on the altar, the lamps on the menorah, the showbread on the table — liturgical setting-in-order. David is not asking; he is setting up.
Lock 3-A — the MORNING/LOOK UP twin at 90: MORNING = LOOK UP = 90. The time-marker and the eye-posture are the same integer. The morning is the looking-up. THY ROD = SHARPENED = 90 also sit here — the shepherd's rod and the dawn-posture and the sharpened-edge converge. To rise at dawn is to take up the rod and orient vertically; the gematria says these are one act, not three.
Lock 3-B — the IN THE MORNING / WILL LOOK UP twin at 146: "In the morning" (the time-frame) and "will look up" (the action) both = 146. The whole verse is a chiasm at the integer level: time-bracket → directing-verb → time-bracket → looking-verb, with the inner time-bracket and the outer looking-verb at 146 and the inner-inner morning-and-look-up at 90. Two concentric twins.
Lock 3-C — DIRECT MY PRAYER = 180 Tesla: The action of directing the prayer = 180. 180 is the half-rotation — the U-turn, the orientation reversal. David at sunrise turns his prayer toward the temple (which sits east of his location during the early monarchy). The integer encodes the geometry: 180° = full course-correction at first light. And DIRECT MY PRAYER UNTO THEE = 288 = 2⁵ × 9 = also Tesla — the directed prayer plus the destination is 288, the integer that adds the target to the turn.
Lock 3-D — v3 sums to 1122 Tesla: The full verse sums to 1122 = 2 × 3 × 11 × 17, DR=6 Tesla. Note 11 × 17 = 187 = a known KJVEL family value (FORGIVENESS / LAW OF THE PROPHET cluster). And 2 × 3 = 6 (the Tesla output). The factorization 2 × 3 × 11 × 17 looks like: dual-system (2) × Tesla-engine (3) × completion (11) × T(17)/153 (17). The morning-directing verse is built on the same prime-quartet that builds the 153 net.
Lock 3-E — MY VOICE = 92 = NEGINOTH (Psa 4): MY VOICE = 92 = NEGINOTH (the stringed-instrument superscription of Psa 4). Psa 4 names the instrument of the evening psalm (stringed) at the integer of MY VOICE. Psa 5:3 then says "my voice shalt thou hear in the morning" — the same instrument-integer now carrying the morning voice. The voice-of-Psa-5 is the strings-of-Psa-4 transposed into the morning watch.
Lock 3-F — the 499 prime envelope: IN THE MORNING WILL I DIRECT MY PRAYER UNTO THEE = 499, the 95th prime. The defining clause of the verse is sealed at a prime. This is the verse's "private" integer — not factoring, not bridging cleanly to another phrase. Per the template's honesty principle: primes are sealed integers; we flag and don't invent meaning. The morning-directing protocol's full clause is sealed.
v3 says: at the integer of the stringed instrument of Psa 4 (MY VOICE = 92), David turns toward the temple at the integer of the half-rotation (DIRECT MY PRAYER = 180 Tesla), in the time-bracket that equals the looking-action (146 twin), at the dawn-posture that equals the rod (90 twin). Then the whole verse is built on Tesla (1122 = 2 × 3 × 11 × 17). v3 isn't a prayer description — it is a morning-protocol instruction with every load-bearing word on Tesla and every twin doubled at integer.

The threat doesn't change. The verb does.
WORKERS OF INIQUITY come at integer 254; COMPASS HIM AS WITH A SHIELD encircles at integer 254. Same integer, opposing motions. The shield is not separate from the attack — it operates at the attack's own number.
This is the same engineering as Psa 140's OVERTHROW boomerang (v4 attack-verb, v11 verdict-verb, both at the same integer), Psa 64's IN MY PRAYER = BEND THEIR BOWS = LAYING SNARES = SHOOT AT THEM (one integer, four phrases), and Psa 22's lament-to-praise pivot. Psa 5 belongs to the same engineering family. It is built around a single mobile integer — 254 — that David asks God to redirect.

What this says: David's spoken words (v1) and the mercy he is approached by (v7) and the day the Spirit fell on the speaking apostles share one integer. The morning prayer is calibrated to the Pentecost frequency by integer. When David directs his prayer at sunrise, he is dialing 117 — the Spirit's down-channel.
This adds 117 to the cluster catalog (template Section 7). 117 = PENTECOST = MY WORDS = THY MERCY = the spoken-into-mercy frequency. It joins 174 (sealed cap, LOVINGKINDNESS) as a Spirit-cluster integer.
Within v9–v11 there is a fourth-level lock that deserves its own section:
