The psalm is the petition-praise sandwich on the betrayal: cry for the Name (v1), be heard (v2), name the threat (v3), recognize the Helper (v4), invoke verdict (v5), pivot to free worship (v6), see the trouble already past (v7).

The psalm is engineered so that teaching, petition, verdict, and threat all share the integer of the genre. The Maschil is the threat-and-rescue lesson. (Note: 65 is the same integer as KORAH and SAUL+SHEM — but here it functions as the Maschil seal.)

This is more 117-instances than any prior decoded psalm. The threat-resolution verb (CUT OFF, v5), the judgment-call (NAME AND JUDGE ME, v1), and the worship-pivot (UNTO THEE I / LORD FOR IT, v6) are all PENTECOST at integer. The verdict, the dedication, and the praise are the same day — Pentecost is the day the breath descended and the cutting-off (Acts 2:37 — "pricked in their heart") flipped into ingathering. This psalm runs the Pentecost mechanism in miniature: cry → name → cut off → freely sacrifice. Same integer four times in the action-verbs.
The 117 sextuple also bridges to Psa 16:5 ("THE LORD IS THE PORTION OF MINE INHERITANCE") via the broader 117-PENTECOST family — when God is named, the inheritance is preserved.
Lock (v1): The two halves of v1 ask the same thing twice — "save me by thy NAME" (33+86=119) and "judge me by thy STRENGTH" (111 = STRENGTH itself = MINE ENEMIES). What David asks for in petition (STRENGTH=111) is named two verses later as the enemy-set (MINE ENEMIES=111). The verb-direction reversal is built in: God's strength applied to the enemies' strength produces the deliverance. And the verse's middle phrase (NAME AND JUDGE ME = 117) is PENTECOST — the day the Name was put on the Bride.
Lock (v2-153): HEAR MY PRAYER = 153 = LONGSUFFERING = T(17) = the chesed-net / iron-sulfur integer that bridges the Psalter's deliverance language (Psa 39:12, Psa 140:6, John 21:11 net). The mechanism by which David asks to be heard in this psalm is the longsuffering of God.
Lock (v2-168): HEAR MY PRAYER O = TO THE WORDS OF = 168 — the prayer-opening and the prayer-content are the same integer. The 168 hits three times (v2, v2, v3-close at GOD BEFORE THEM SELAH=168). The Selah marker emerges at the same integer as the prayer-request: what is heard is what is buried.
Lock (v3-89 doublet): ARE RISEN = AGAINST ME = 89 in the same five-word clause. 89 is the FOR EVER / YOUTH integer (its primary Psalter cluster). The threat-emergence integer is the FOR EVER / YOUTH cluster firing twice inside v3 — the strangers' rising-up sits at the same integer as the "for ever" promise-language of Psa 89 / Psa 111 / Psa 136. The integer-irony: enemies "rise up" at the same number as God's covenant endures.
Lock (v3-216): NOT SET GOD BEFORE THEM (the absence-of-God phrase) = THE LORD IS WITH THEM (the v4 ally-phrase) = 216 = 6³. The strangers' theological denial and God's covenantal presence are the same integer at the perfect cube. The space of denial is filled, integer-equal, by the space of presence. 216 is also Shem ha-Mephoresh; here the integer is the volume of the presence.
Lock (v3-297 Selah-burial): Following the Psa 140 mechanic (Selah marks the pre-buried integer): the integer immediately preceding Selah in v3 = 297 = DELIVERED ME OUT OF ALL TROUBLE (v7). The deliverance verse is buried inside the threat verse at the Selah marker. When David pauses to mark the pit, the integer already on the page is the integer of the rescue from the pit.
Lock (v4 — the chapter's fulcrum): v4 is the central verse of the 7-verse psalm. Inside it, the only contiguous 2-word phrase in the whole psalm that sums to 54 (the chapter number) is "God is." The chapter-self-lock lands at the moment David identifies the Helper. Around it: BEHOLD GOD=72 (CARRIER), HELPER THE LORD IS=174 (LOVINGKINDNESS sealed cap), THE LORD IS WITH THEM=216=6³, IS WITH THEM THAT UPHOLD MY=297 (the Selah-buried integer from v3). Lock (v5-117 internal doublet): REWARD EVIL = CUT THEM OFF = 117. The verbs of judgment and severance are the same integer in the same verse — and that integer is PENTECOST. The Pentecost-cluster, normally a positive ingathering integer, holds the negative verdict at identical weight. The same Spirit that gives the Name (v1: NAME AND JUDGE ME=117) cuts off the deniers (v5: CUT THEM OFF=117). Psa 54 is the psalm where the same 117 runs in both directions.
Lock (v5-prime envelope): v5 verse-sum 643 is prime. The verdict verse is sealed. In the Psa 64:8 mechanic (v8 = 907 prime envelope on the imprecation verse), the prime-sealed verse is the verdict-locked verse: nothing factors out, nothing can be appealed.
Cross-psalm lock — THY TRUTH=140: Psalm 54:5 says "cut them off in thy truth" — THY TRUTH = 140 = chapter Psa 140, the psalm of preserving from the violent man. Psa 54:5 is calling, by chapter-number, for the Psa 140 verdict to be applied. This is the forward-bridge mechanic documented in psalm_decode_followups §A1 (Psa 18:50 FOR EVERMORE=140 → Psa 140). Lock (v6 — the 219 alpha-omega handshake): SAVE ME O GOD BY THY NAME (v1, the petition) = I WILL PRAISE THY NAME (v6, the praise) = 219. The opening phrase and the closing phrase share an integer. The verb flips (save → praise), the integer holds. This is the classic alpha-omega handshake mechanic (Psa 22, Psa 55). The psalm is engineered to make the petition-integer = the praise-integer; once the integer is true, the verb-direction is mobile.
Lock (v6-144): FREELY SACRIFICE = 144 = GOD BLESS YOU = FAR ABOVE RUBIES = OPENED THE HEART. The act of free worship after deliverance is the bridal-value integer. Also: NAME AND JUDGE ME BY (v1) = 144. The petition-mid-phrase and the worship-pivot share 144 — the Bride-value emerges twice in the psalm.
Lock (v6-137): FOR IT IS GOOD = 137 — the fine-structure constant prime, the same prime as Psa 140:10 RISE NOT UP. The terminal "for it is good" of v6 carries the same sealed-prime as Psa 140's terminal verdict. The two psalms close at the same prime, opposite-vector: Psa 140 says "let them not rise" (137); Psa 54 says "for it is good" (137). The integer of irreversibility runs in both directions.
Lock (v7 — the ENCRYPTION saturation): v7 is the deliverance-close verse, and 139 (= ENCRYPTION = LAW OF THE LORD = FORGIVENESS) fires three times inside it at distinct sub-phrases: HATH DELIVERED ME, OF ALL TROUBLE, SEEN HIS DESIRE. Three direct phrase-matches in one verse is the highest 139-density per verse in the Psalter so far (Psa 139 itself spreads 8 self-locks across the whole psalm). The verse-sum 834 = 6 × 139 falls out by arithmetic: three of the verse's sub-phrases already sit at 139, contributing exactly half the total; the residual clauses balance to the same. The structural finding is the ENCRYPTION cluster saturating the deliverance verse — petition (v1) and deliverance (v7) both encrypted at the same prime.
Lock (v7 — 195/297 closing the v3 threat): Three of v7's clauses (HATH DELIVERED ME OUT=195, DELIVERED ME OUT OF ALL TROUBLE=297, MINE EYE HATH SEEN HIS DESIRE=252) match three of v3's clauses (SEEK AFTER MY SOUL=195, HAVE NOT SET GOD BEFORE THEM SELAH=297, HAVE NOT SET GOD BEFORE THEM=252). Every threat-integer in v3 reappears as a deliverance-integer in v7. The psalm encodes its own resolution at the integer layer. The closer is the bracket.
Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
The verse is the chapter's central declaration: the moment David turns from threat-naming (v3) to ally-naming (v4). It is the only verse in the psalm whose 2-word phrase sums to 54 — and that phrase is "God is."
Lock 4-A — God is = 54 = chapter integer. Of all 7 verses, only v4 contains a 2-word contiguous phrase summing to 54. That phrase is "God is." The chapter-self-lock is positional: at the structural center, with the assertion. This is more elegant than a longer phrase or a peripheral hit; the chapter's identity statement = the chapter's integer at the chapter's center. (Note: the single word GOD = 26 — divine integer. Adding IS (=28) =54 — the integer at which God becomes asserted. The act of predication is what produces the chapter.)
Lock 4-B — Helper = 64 = Jubilee = Mercy = O LORD. The word for "helper" at the moment of declaring help is the same integer as the Jubilee year. David's help is the Jubilee. And the v6 closing "O LORD" (also 64) refrains the integer — the Helper named in v4 is the LORD addressed in v6.
Lock 4-C — Behold God = 72 = covering cluster. The opening doublet of v4 carries the WINGS / STILL / CARRIER / MERCIES integer. The introductory "Behold God" is functionally "covering" — the moment of attention is the moment of being-covered. This bridges to Psa 91 (covering psalm) and Psa 17:8 ("the shadow of thy wings").
Lock 4-D — Helper the Lord is = 174 = LOVINGKINDNESS sealed cap. Inside v4's mid-clause is the 174 cap-integer — LOVINGKINDNESS, SEVEN THUNDERS, SHOWSTOPPER, SUPPLICATIONS — the integer that no KJV verse sums to. The unhearable cap-integer is heard inside the helper-declaration. This is the only 174 in the entire psalm.
Lock 4-E — The Lord is with them = 216 = 6³ = "Not set God before them" (v3). The cube-integer of presence equals the v3 phrase that denies presence. The strangers refused to set God before them; the Lord is with them that uphold David — the integer is the same. The cube describes a volume of presence that doesn't depend on the strangers' refusal. 216 is the volume of the Holy of Holies (10 cubits × 10 × 10 / scale factor — see also Shem ha-Mephoresh). Presence is a cube.
Lock 4-F — Is with them that uphold my = 297 = "Delivered me out of all trouble" (v7). The mid-to-end clause of v4 equals the deliverance-verse clause of v7. Being upheld in v4 IS being delivered in v7 — integer-equal. And recall: 297 was also the Selah-buried integer at v3-close. The same 297 runs threat (v3 Selah) → ally (v4 uphold) → deliverance (v7 close). Three positions of one integer mark the arc.
After substituting integer-meanings, v4 reads:

v4 is the psalm's engineered fulcrum. The chapter integer is asserted (54 = God is), the covering-integer opens the verse (72 = Behold God), the Jubilee-integer names the helper (64), the sealed-cap (174 = LOVINGKINDNESS) is embedded mid-clause, the cube-of-presence (216 = "with them") cancels the v3 denial, and the deliverance-integer (297) is pre-stated before v7 closes it. Six KJVEL family-seals in one verse, with the chapter-integer (54) at the predication.

The problem doesn't change. The verb does.
David asks God to save by thy name (219). After the threat-arc resolves, David says I will praise thy name (219). Same integer, opposite verb-direction. The Name is the same; the relation to the Name flips from petition to praise. This is the classic alpha-omega handshake mechanic also seen in Psa 22:1 ↔ 22:22 and Psa 55:1 ↔ 55:23. Psa 54's handshake is in the shortest form yet — across only 6 verses.
Verse-sum factor confirmation: v7 (834) is not the handshake-verse; it is the ENCRYPTION-saturated verse. 834 = 6 × 139, but that's the arithmetic consequence of three direct 139-phrases inside v7, not an independent multiplier-encoding. The handshake is v1 ↔ v6 at 219; the saturation is v7 at 139 × 3 direct + 417 residue.
Psalm 54 fires on an unusually dense cluster of KJVEL families for a short psalm:
Six independent phrases at 117 — see §3 above. The threat-resolution verb (CUT THEM OFF), the verdict-verb (REWARD EVIL), the petition-mid (NAME AND JUDGE ME), the worship-pivot (UNTO THEE I), and the dedication (LORD FOR IT) all sum to PENTECOST. The largest 117 cluster yet found in a single psalm.
Five independent direct-phrase matches at 139 across the psalm. Three of those land inside v7 alone (HATH DELIVERED ME, OF ALL TROUBLE, SEEN HIS DESIRE), making v7's verse-sum 834 = 6 × 139 by arithmetic consequence (3×139 of phrases + 3×139 of balanced residue). This is the densest 139 per-verse rate in the Psalter — Psa 139 itself spreads 8 self-locks across the whole psalm; Psa 54 packs 3 into one verse. The structural finding is the ENCRYPTION / LAW OF THE LORD cluster saturating the deliverance close: the cipher integer is the integer of the petition (GOD BY THY NAME), the deliverance (HATH DELIVERED ME), and the troubles delivered from (OF ALL TROUBLE).
