"Create in me a clean heart" (v10) is the most-quoted petition in the Psalter.

In plain English: Psalm 51 is David's repentance after his sin with Bathsheba — the most famous "I'm sorry" prayer in scripture. Under the surface, the English gematria shows the chapter number is literally engineered into the psalm's verbs: WASH = 51 and BEFORE = 51, and the word "wash" appears in v2 AND v7 — the chapter's defining action sits on its own integer twice. The psalm is also the integer-level implementation of POSIX-style guilt handling: the petition WASH ME = 69 is the same integer as GUILT = GHOST = INCENSE = 69, and v10's CREATE = HEART = 52 says the rollback target IS the rollback verb at one number — God creates the heart by re-running the heart. Six hits at the chapter number in 19 verses. Compared to the meta-scan baseline (docs/chapter_number_lock_meta_scan.md), Psa 51 is well above the natural floor. The two content-bearing hits are WASH (v2) and WASH (v7) — the same word appearing twice at its chapter integer, each time at the central penitential petition. Plus BEFORE in v3 ("my sin is ever BEFORE me") — the unforgotten sin sits before David at the chapter number, and the wash answers it.
Reading: Psalm 51 is engineered so that its central verb — wash — is gematria-identical to its chapter number, and that verb appears twice (v2, v7) framing the purge (v7 PURGE = 67, with HYSSOP between them). The wash-at-51-inside-Psa-51 is the densest chapter-number self-lock found so far in the Psalter outside Psa 139's 8 hits. Where Psa 139 is the omniscience self-lock, Psa 51 is the repentance self-lock — and they cover the corpus's two highest-frequency liturgical psalms.
Lock (v1): LOVINGKINDNESS = 174. The penitential psalm opens on the sealed cap-frequency of the humming protocol. This is the boomerang/handshake architecture from psalm_decode_followups A4: the same integer, two verbs (sin → whiteness), opposite direction. The transgressions don't get erased — they get re-routed. 197 is mobile through the wash. The wash at 51 doesn't change the number; it changes the verb attached to the number. Reading: my transgressions (197) become whiter than snow (197) by going through the wash (51).
Lock (v7): HYSSOP = AHITHOPHEL = 102 (Psa 55:11 bridge). From psalm_55_decode: AHITHOPHEL (Psa 55:11's betrayer) = 102 = HYSSOP. The plant God uses to purge David's sin shares an integer with Psa 55's betrayer, Ahithophel. Reading: the hyssop that purges sin is the same integer as the betrayer named in Psa 55 — the purge-agent and the betrayal-figure share one number.
Lock (v7): I SHALL BE CLEAN = JUSTIFIED (v4) = COMPLAINT (Psa 55:2) = 103 (prime). The shall-be-clean state and the justification of v4 and Psa 55's complaint all share a sealing prime. The cleanness David seeks IS the justification IS the answered-complaint, at one prime.
Lock (v7): PURGE ME = PRESENCE (v11) = 85. The verb of v7 (purge me) sits at the integer of v11's presence. The purge-act and the presence-locus share an integer — the purge takes place in the presence; the presence is where the purge happens.
Lock (v8): JOY AND GLADNESS = 150. The number David asks to hear is the verse-count of the Psalter. He asks to hear the whole Psalter at integer. The joy-and-gladness is gematria-equivalent to the corpus he's writing inside.
Lock (v8): GLADNESS = CONFESS = TABERNACLE = GRACE OF GOD = 81 . The gladness David wants to hear IS the confession he is making IS the tabernacle that gets built IS the grace of God. Lock (v8): BONES BROKEN = CHIEF MUSICIAN = 120. The superscription's title CHIEF MUSICIAN (120) is the integer of the broken bones in v8. The conductor of the psalm IS the broken-bones state. The man writing the psalm and the body suffering it are one integer. From Psa 140 / Psa 55: 120 = CALL UPON GOD = SOUL IN PEACE = HOLY × 2 (= 2 × HOLY = the doubled-sanctification). Lock (v11): TAKE NOT THY HOLY SPIRIT FROM ME = 360. Full degree-circle. The petition for retention of the Holy Spirit closes the full circular cycle at integer. this matches the architecture of a retained exception handler — the Holy Spirit at 360° is the always-on convictor-loop. David asks for the full-circle retention of the convictor.
Lock (v11): THY HOLY SPIRIT = 204 = 4 × 51 = 4 × chapter number. The Holy Spirit's possessive form is exactly four times the chapter integer. The chapter is named 51 (= WASH); the Holy Spirit who keeps the wash running is 4 × 51 = 204. Four-fold wash = retained Spirit.
