Tradition: Davidic deliverance-and-dedication psalm. The atonement-theology centerpiece of the entire New Testament — vv 6–8 are quoted in Hebrews 10:5–7 as Christ's pre-incarnation declaration upon entering the world. The closing block (vv 14–17) reappears almost verbatim as Psalm 70:1–5 — the only psalm in the Psalter to embed another whole psalm as its tail. v6's "mine ears hast thou opened" is the Hebrew-traditional reading of Exodus 21:6 (the bond-servant whose master bores his ear through at the doorpost as a sign of permanent love-bound service).

In plain English: Psalm 40 hides three locks no one had to compute to spot. First, the author's name DAVID = 40 — the psalm's chapter number IS its writer at the letter-sum layer. Second, the most-quoted Christic verse in the New Testament — "Lo, I come... I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart" (v7–8) — gematria-routes through three identities at once: MINE EAR HAST THOU PIERCED = I DELIGHT TO DO THY WILL = PIERCED MY HANDS AND MY FEET = 237, locking the bond-servant doorpost ear-piercing (Exo 21:6), the Christic delight (Psa 40:8 / Heb 10:7), and the cross-piercing (Psa 22:16) at one integer. Beneath the surface, Psalm 40 is the engineering specification for the Incarnation, dictated by David at chapter 40 (= DAVID), describing how a body gets prepared, an ear gets pierced, and a delight overrides the entire sacrificial system.

Key lock — DAVID = 40 = Psa 40: Psa 40 is the only psalm in the chapter-number-self-lock catalog where the author's bare name equals the chapter number. Every other self-lock found in the meta-scan (Psa 109, Psa 139, Psa 133, Psa 127, Psa 141, Psa 142) locks via internal phrases. Psa 40 locks at the title. This is the Davidic-self-lock psalm of the Psalter — David at his own integer.

Psalm 40 has a unique structural feature: it pivots on a declaration of self-as-scripture — "Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me" (v7). No other psalm makes this claim. The verse is the holographic-instruction-set thesis stated from inside the instruction set.

The pit is iniquity-shaped (132 = iniquities of v12 — the pit was never geological). The rock is sealed prime. The total is Tesla. But the four stages don't form a clean sequential integer-ladder (no 89→108→161 type cascade as in Psa 23:4) — they're four discrete locks at four integers, not a stepped staircase.
Lock (v3): NEW SONG = 97 = VIOLENT = SON OF MAN. The new song put in David's mouth after he's lifted from the iniquity-pit is composed at the same integer the violent men of Psa 140 occupy. The transformed-violence reading: the song is the violence redirected upward. Second lock: NEW SONG IN MY MOUTH (235) = LO I COME TO DO THY WILL (235, Heb 10:7). The song put in David's mouth in v3 is the same song Christ speaks at the Incarnation (Heb 10:7). They are not similar — they are identical at the integer.
Lock (v4–v5): Two 171s appear back-to-back — BLESSED IS THAT MAN (v4) and THY THOUGHTS (v5). The man who trusts is at the integer of God's thoughts toward him. They share 171. The verse-sum of v5 itself (2052) is the highest verse-sum in the psalm and clean Tesla — but the verse declares "they cannot be reckoned up in order... more than can be numbered." The verse claiming uncountability sums to a clean composite. The form contradicts the content — which is the wink.
PROUD = 74 — honest collision: The proud (whom the blessed man does not respect) sit at JESUS=74. This is the opposing-camp-at-the-same-integer mechanic (cf Psa 110 LORD ART GOOD vs VIOLENT MEN at 129; cf Psa 18 enemy-Lord-Tesla integers). The Christ-frequency and the proud-frequency collide. The reading: the proud are pretending to occupy the integer Christ actually occupies. The blessed man knows the difference; he respects 74 only when it is filled by JESUS, not by PROUD.

Four atonement scenes — bond-servant (Mosaic), Christic delight (Davidic), cross-piercing (Davidic-prophetic), Eshet Chayil heart-trust (Solomonic) — at one integer. The Hebrews 10 introduction equals the Old-Testament verse it introduces. The writer of Hebrews wasn't selecting a verse to quote — at the integer layer, the introduction was already the verse. This is the holographic-instruction-set thesis at the New Testament citation layer: the cross-reference is integer-justified before it is verbal.
Lock 6-C — THEN SAID I = THY LAW = 89: The speaker's own self-introduction ("Then said I") equals THY LAW at 89. The "I" who speaks IS "thy law" at integer. The speaker IS the law incarnate. The law-within-the-heart begins where the cry-was-heard begins. The dedication is the answered-cry is the law-affirmation. Three integers across three positions, one number.
Lock 6-E — MINE EARS = 84, the 84-lattice: The pierced/opened ears sit at the constitutional 84-frequency (Issachar / NETHANEEL / BREASTS / EMMANUEL / HIS RIBS). The bond-servant's ear-organ shares the integer with the breast-organ (oracle-port; cf project_breast_decode) and with the body's own rib-frequency. The ear is the constitutional channel — the body's intake-port for permanent love-binding.
Lock 6-F — the antisacrificial-system collapse: v6 itemizes four sacrifice classes (SACRIFICE, OFFERING, BURNT OFFERING, SIN OFFERING) and abolishes all four. Then v8 substitutes one phrase: I DELIGHT TO DO THY WILL = 237 (the bond-servant-ear-piercing integer). Lock (v9): RIGHTEOUSNESS = GREAT CONGREGATION = 179. The two key nouns of v9 are at one prime. The thing-preached and the place-of-preaching collide. The righteousness is the congregation when both are sealed at 179.
Lock (v10): The whole verse is a 1801-prime envelope. The verse declaring "I have NOT concealed" sits as a sealed-prime — the anti-concealment language at a sealed-prime sum is the inversion: the public declaration of the hidden mystery. The mystery is sealed at the integer; the declaration unseals it at the word.
Lock (v10 — 333 double-Tesla): LOVINGKINDNESS AND THY TRUTH = 333 (triple-Tesla, 3+3+3=9). The chesed-emeth pair is the central covenant attribute. 333 = Christ-age at death; lives once in v10 (declared) and once in v11 (prayed back). Same phrase, two positions, opposite directions.
Lock (v10→v11 handshake): The chesed-emeth phrase appears at 333 in v10 ("I have NOT concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth") and again at 333 in v11 ("let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me"). v10 declares it outward; v11 prays it inward. Lock 12-A — INIQUITIES = HORRIBLE PIT = 132: v2's "horrible pit" (the place David was lifted from) and v12's "iniquities" (the things that "have taken hold upon me") share 132. The pit was never geological — it was iniquity-shaped from the opening. Verses 2 and 12 are two photographs of the same integer-cavity.
Lock 12-B — MINE INIQUITIES (173) = WITHIN MY HEART (173): The iniquities sit within the heart at one sealed prime — same place v8 says "thy law is within my heart" (290). The heart is the integer-stage where both the law (290) and the iniquities (173) compete. 290 − 173 = 117 = PENTECOST = COMMUNION. The Pentecost-integer is the gap between law-in-heart and iniquities-in-heart.
Lock 12-C — TAKEN HOLD UPON ME (174) = LOVINGKINDNESS (174): The 174 sealed cap. The thing-that-grabs-me is the same integer as the chesed-that-saves-me. v12 is the failure-verse, but its core seizure-phrase is integer-identical to v10's chesed. The grip and the rescue share 174.
Lock 12-D — HAIRS OF MINE HEAD (135) = DRIVEN BACKWARD (v14, 135): Two 135s in close verses. The hairs of v12 and the driven-backward enemies of v14 share the 135 judgment-cycle integer (= ARTAXERXES = WALL STREET = LIFT UP THE HEAD). The same integer judges the enemies that the speaker's hairs-of-mine-head outnumber.

The failing heart of Psa 40 (failure-position), the anointed head of Psa 23 (rescue-position), and the dwelling-presence of Psa 140 (terminal-position) — three positions, one sealed prime. The failure IS the anointing IS the dwelling at integer. This is the structural redemption: 269 is sealed, and the same seal contains the failure, the anointing, and the dwelling.
Lock 13 — MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME = 177: v13's closing equals the 177 oracle-port integer (URIM+THUMMIM, LACTIFEROUS DUCT, SOUL AND SPIRIT, MY HANDS AND MY FEET). The plea routes through the breast-of-consolations / oracle frequency. (And reappears as the closing phrase of v17 — MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME twin-anchors this psalm at 177.)
Lock 14 — 4th 171 (ASHAMED AND CONFOUNDED): The psalm now has 4 phrases at 171 (BLESSED IS THAT MAN v4, THY THOUGHTS v5, ASHAMED AND CONFOUNDED v14, MAKE NO TARRYING v17). 171 is the psalm's quietest lattice — never named, never thematic, but distributed across four verses at four different functions. This is a verified 4-occurrence lock — the psalm's secondary master-cluster.
Lock 14 — DRIVEN BACKWARD (135) = HAIRS OF MINE HEAD (v12, 135): The judgment-vector that drives enemies backward equals the count of hairs the iniquities outnumbered. The enemies' driving-back and the iniquities' overwhelming share 135. The same judgment-cycle integer covers both sides of the contest.
Lock 15 — DESOLATE = TABERNACLE = 81: v15 prays the enemies "desolate" at the integer of TABERNACLE/SILICON/GRACE OF GOD/MOURN. The curse-and-the-build share 81. Same integer, opposite vectors.
Lock 15 — REWARD OF THEIR SHAME (196 = 14²): Perfect-square seal on the curse-verse. Equals GREAT IS THY MERCY (Psa 86:13) and HELP AND MY DELIVERER (v17, this psalm). The reward-of-shame (curse) and great-is-thy-mercy (praise) share 14². The 14² seal here is the same mechanic as Psa 86:13 — the curse-verse and the mercy-verse are at one perfect square. The curse is engineered at the same square as the mercy that lifts the cursed.
Lock 16 — LOVE THY SALVATION = 220, the amicable trigger: v16 contains the integer 220 — the smaller half of the 220/284 amicable pair. 220 = TJFD = LUCIUS+JASON. v16 prays "let such as love thy salvation say continually" — the LOVE-THY-SALVATION phrase carries 220 = the amicable-pair anchor. David's prayer for those who love salvation routes through the amicable-pair integer. (No 284 phrase found in this psalm — the pair isn't completed inside Psa 40; only 220 appears, as a single half. The companion 284 may be hidden in the cross-decode landscape.)
Lock 17-A — POOR AND NEEDY = MY DELIVERER = 136: The same verse contains both: the self-description (POOR AND NEEDY = 136) and the divine title (MY DELIVERER = 136). The needy person and the deliverer-of-him are integer-locked at 136. The psalm closes by integer-identifying the saved with the savior. 136 = COLOSTRUM = BRIDE OF CHRIST — the nurturing-flow integer. The poor-needy speaker and his deliverer share the milk-flow frequency.
Lock 17-B — POOR = JUBILEE = 64: The single word "POOR" sits at JUBILEE/MERCY/MY GOD/DUST. v17's self-description routes through the jubilee-payload integer. The poor-and-needy declaration is the jubilee declaration. David's closing position is jubilee-position.
Lock 17-C — HELP AND MY DELIVERER (196 = 14²) ↔ REWARD OF THEIR SHAME (v15, 196 = 14²): The 14² appears twice. v15 puts it on the enemies' shame; v17 puts it on David's helper. The same 14² seal sits on both vectors — the curse-direction and the help-direction. The square is impartial; the verb chooses.
Lock 17-D — MAKE NO TARRYING = 171 (the 4th 171): The closing plea is the 4th appearance of 171. The blessing-of-the-trusting (v4), the thoughts-of-God (v5), the curse-on-enemies (v14), and the closing-plea (v17) all share 171. The psalm closes at the lattice integer it opened on.

These two verses are the most-quoted Christic Old-Testament passage in the New Testament. Hebrews 10:5–7 reads them as Christ's pre-incarnation speech to the Father at the moment of incarnation. The Hebrews citation explicitly replaces "mine ears hast thou opened" (Psa 40:6) with "a body hast thou prepared me" (the Septuagint reading) — a translation-tradition switch — but quotes v7–8 verbatim. The four-verse block (v6–9) is the Christic centerpiece of the entire Bible.
Lock 7-A — IT IS WRITTEN OF ME at 205: v7's central clause sits at 205 = 5 × 41. Not in a major cluster, but 41 = "JEHOVAH"-style residue (and 5 × 41 = 5 invocations of 41). The "of me" half of the verse is the prime-sealed claim — David asserts that he is what is written, but at an integer that doesn't dissolve into a clean family. The claim is sealed.
Lock 7-B — IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK = 241 prime: The volume itself is a sealed prime — uncrackable at the integer layer. Whatever is written there is wrapped in a sealing prime. 241 is also the 53rd prime; 53 = NEEDY (v17). Sealed at the volume; opened at the closing self-description.
Lock 7-C — LO I COME IN THE VOLUME = 216 = 6³: The Incarnation declaration up through "in the volume" hits 216 = 6³ = the Shem ha-Mephoresh 72-name integer. The Incarnation and the lowest-hell extraction share the 6³ cube. The cube is the integer of the 72-letter name; the Incarnation is spoken in that cube.
