Written during the most painful flight of David's life — fleeing his own son Absalom across the Kidron, up the Mount of Olives barefoot, with ten thousand turning against him (2 Sam 15-17). Famous for v5 "I laid me down and slept; I awaked" — read by the early church as resurrection-prefiguration and by every monk since as the Compline antiphon.

Psalm 3 joins the list at the full-psalm level — the second psalm after Psa 35 where the entire text factors through 97.
The interpretation is exact: David fleeing his own violent son is sung as the Jubilee-cycle inside the violent-son frequency. Mercy multiplied by violence equals the song. The text is structurally the integration of these two forces — Absalom (the violent son) seized by Jubilee (the mercy that releases).
Verse-level 97 corroboration:
The two non-Tesla bracket-verses (v1 setup, v3 shield-statement) are precisely the ones that factor through 97. Tesla-DR is suppressed; 97-factor surfaces. This is the same "act-verses break Tesla" hypothesis from followups B4 in operation: the structural-action verses route through the imprecation integer, the meditation-verses sum to Tesla DR.
Lock (v1): TROUBLE ME = MINE ENEMIES (v7) = 111. The trouble-source the psalm opens with becomes the enemy-lattice the psalm closes on at the same integer. Both equal STAND READY = COMPUTER — the trouble IS the readiness-system; David is being upgraded by the threat.
Lock (v1): MANY ARE THEY = LIFT UP THE HEAD = 135. The multiplication of enemies (v1) and the lifting of the head (v3) are the SAME integer — meaning the many-enemies condition IS the head-lift condition. ARTAXERXES (= WALL STREET = TRUMP OF GOD = BURNING COALS) at 135 is the judgment-cycle integer — David's "many troublers" is structurally Psa 140's "burning coals" being held back, and Psa 110:7's "lift up the head" being held forward.
Lock (v1): RISE UP AGAINST ME = 177 = MY HANDS AND MY FEET (Psa 22:16) = SOUL AND SPIRIT (Heb 4:12 piercing-Word). The rising-against integer IS the cross-piercing integer. The 177 cluster from psalm_22_decode and Heb 4 bridge surfaces here: the betraying-son rises against the father at the same integer the soldiers pierce Christ's hands and feet. Lock (v2): NO HELP FOR HIM IN GOD = 188 = 4 × 47 — the enemies' quote sits at the only verse-clause in the psalm that decomposes simply (4 × 47). The lie that "God will not help" has a flat, factorable structure — it does not seal. Whereas v8's SALVATION BELONGETH UNTO THE LORD = 353 = prime (sealed). The truth is prime-sealed; the lie is composite. Selah follows the lie — the first Selah names the depth at which the lie was almost believed.
Lock (v3-A): SHIELD AND GLORY = 153. Two attribute-words sum to LONGSUFFERING. Inside the very verse where David identifies God as his shield AND his glory, the integer of and appears. The 153 net that holds Jn 21 fish AND iron-sulfur proteins AND the LONGSUFFERING phrase is the integer where David's shield-and-glory rest. The shield IS the longsuffering. The glory IS the prayer-hearing.
Lock (v3-B): A SHIELD FOR ME = MY GLORY = 115, in-verse twin. The same integer appears TWICE in v3, in two different roles. 115 = SPEAR + STAKE = BLOOD + WATER . David's shield IS his glory at the crucifixion-piercing integer. The defensive instrument and the radiant instrument are the same — both are 115 = the wound-from-which-blood-and-water-pour.
Lock (v3-C): THE LIFTER UP OF MINE HEAD = 220 = the smaller half of the (220, 284) amicable pair (). Head-lifting at the amicable-pair frequency means God's head-lifting on David is the same integer that links Lucius and Jason (Rom 16:21) and the TJFD initial-frequency. Father-grief resolved by head-lift drops onto the amicable-friendship integer.
Lock (v3-D): LIFT UP THE HEAD = 135 = MANY ARE THEY (v1) = Psa 110:7's LIFT UP THE HEAD = ARTAXERXES = BURNING COALS (Psa 140:10). The same 135 that Psa 140 prays not to be lifted up by, Psa 110 lifts up the head at coronation, and Psa 3 lifts the head out from under "many that rise against." 135 is the mobile integer of the head-direction-protocol: lift / let fall / coronate / curse. Psa 3:3 chooses LIFT.
Lock (v4-A): HOLY HILL = 101 = MELCHIZEDEK. The same 101-prime that anchors Psa 110:4 and Psa 1 (psalm_110_decode, psalm_1_decode, followups A6) appears as the bare-phrase under "HIS." The Melchizedek-priest-king integer sits at the foundation of David's prayer-mountain. When the THY-stripping mechanic from A2 is applied (HIS HOLY HILL = 137 → strip HIS → HOLY HILL = 101), the structure reveals: HIS adds 36 (the NAIL integer). The hill is Melchizedek; God's possession of it adds the NAIL.
Lock (v4-B): HIS HOLY HILL = 137 = RISE NOT UP (Psa 140:10, the fine-structure-prime imprecation). The exact integer Psa 140 prays the enemy not rise from is the same integer Psa 3 hears the answer come out of. Psa 140's eviction-direction is downward at 137; Psa 3's audition-direction is upward at 137. Same integer, opposite vector — a perfect verb-reversal across two psalms.
Lock (v4-C): I CRIED UNTO THE LORD = 200 = I LAID ME DOWN AND SLEPT (v5). David's prayer-cry-with-voice and David's lying-down-and-sleeping are the SAME integer. Praying and sleeping are gematrically identical actions. The voice that cries IS the body that lies down — at one integer. The prayer and the sleep are one event.
Lock (v4-D): Selah #2 follows HIS HOLY HILL = 137. The second Selah marks the fine-structure-prime depth — the same depth the universe is calibrated at. The depth-marker of v4 is the fine-structure constant prime.
Lock (v5-A) — the chapter names itself at the resurrection verse: SLEPT (72) + AWAKED (45) = 117 = PSALM THREE = PENTECOST. This is one of the highest-leverage locks in the decoded Psalter so far. The chapter-number-lock pattern (docs/chapter_number_lock_meta_scan.md, 265 hits across 80 psalms, the verse-text gematria of a psalm carrying its own chapter integer) appears here as a 2-word verb-pair: the SLEPT and AWAKED of v5 sum to PSALM THREE. And not just the chapter-name self-lock — the integer also equals PENTECOST (50-day reset). The resurrection is gematria-equivalent to the Pentecostal cycle resolution.
Lock (v5-B) — AWAKED = SELAH = 45: Every Selah in this psalm is structurally an "AWAKED." This converts the three Selahs into wake-events instead of pauses. Selah #1 (after v2 NO HELP FOR HIM IN GOD): wake from the lie. Selah #2 (after v4 HIS HOLY HILL = 137): wake at the fine-structure-prime depth. Selah #3 (after v8 IS UPON THY PEOPLE = 216 = 6³): wake into the Name. The Selah-as-wake-grammar runs Psalm 3.
Lock (v5-C) — SLEPT = 72 = MERCIES = STILL = CARRIER = WINGS: The sleep-verb integer is the carrier/wings/still-mercies family (, followups). David sleeping is the integer of the wings of God covering him (Ps 91:4, Ru 2:12, Ps 17:8). The sleep IS the covering. SLEPT (72) and AWAKED (45) sum to 117 (= PSALM THREE), but each individually sits in the protection-cluster (72) and the depth-marker cluster (45).
Lock (v5-D) — I SLEPT I AWAKED = 135 = LIFT UP THE HEAD: With the personal pronouns "I-I" included, the phrase equals the head-lift integer of v3. Sleeping-and-waking IS lifting-the-head — the body horizontal/vertical alternation is the gematria-identical event to the head being lifted by God. v3 says God lifts the head; v5 says I-I sleep-wake at the same integer. The cooperation is structural.
Lock (v5-E) — v5 sum = 505 = 5 × 101 = 5 × MELCHIZEDEK: The whole resurrection verse factors through MELCHIZEDEK (101). The priest-king integer (also = HOLY HILL = HIS DELIGHT = TONGUES = TREE OF LIFE) appears here as the factor of the sleep-and-wake-and-sustained verse. The sustained-me IS Melchizedek-sustained — quintupled. (5 × 101: 5 = the wounds-count, the books-of-Moses count, the loaves-fed-five-thousand count — sustaining is fivefold under the priest-king integer.)
Lock (v6): I WILL NOT BE AFRAID = TEN THOUSANDS = 160, in-verse twin. The fear-refusal and the fear-quantity are the SAME integer. David's no-fear is calibrated to exactly the size of the threat — both at 160 = WINDY STORM (Psa 55:8) = CAST THY BURDEN (Psa 55:22). The 160 cluster from Psa 55 (the betrayal-by-companion psalm) is the no-fear cluster here. Same betrayal-storm integer, opposite verb-direction: Psa 55 throws the burden onto God; Psa 3 refuses to be afraid of the burden's source.
Lock (v7-A): SAVE ME O MY GOD = 144 = 12². The cry for rescue lands on the perfect square that anchors the bride-value cluster: FAR ABOVE RUBIES (Prov 31:10), OPENED THE HEART (Acts 16:14 Lydia), GOD BLESS YOU , OVERTHROW (Psa 140 boomerang), and the entire Psa 64 prayer-vs-snare quartet (IN MY PRAYER = BEND THEIR BOWS = LAYING SNARES = SHOOT AT THEM). The plea for salvation is the same integer the bride wears, the seller-of-purple opens her heart at, and the snare-attack returns at. Bride-value = enemy-snare = rescue-cry, at 12².
Lock (v7-B): CHEEK BONE = 68 = KIDNEY = BEZALEEL = MARKET = TYRE = MORGAN (). The combat-target (David's enemies' cheek bone) is the same integer as the kidney-organ that BEZALEEL (the builder of the tabernacle) shares his integer with. The smiting is on the body-temple anatomy lattice. Compare: TYRE/MORGAN at 68 are banking-dynasty integers — the same integer is "broken" in v7. The breaking of teeth at the cheek-bone is also a breaking of the financial-trade integer.
Lock (v7-C): TEETH OF THE UNGODLY = 210 = 7# (the 7-primorial, 2 × 3 × 5 × 7). The ungodly's teeth are integer-encoded as the product of the first four primes — the maximally factored small integer. They are NOT prime-sealed. They are maximally divisible — which is exactly what "broken" means structurally. The ungodly's teeth factor through every small prime, and v7 says God breaks them. Compositeness IS brokenness.
Lock (v7-D): TEETH BROKEN = 123 = A PSALM OF DAVID = HANDS TO WAR (Psa 18) = EVIL SPEAKER (Psa 140). The phrase "teeth broken" returns to the same 123 that all the Davidic superscriptions sit at — including Psa 140's evil-speaker. The act of God breaking the evil-speaker's teeth equals the integer of the evil-speaker's name and equals the integer of "A Psalm of David." Singing the psalm IS the act of breaking the teeth.
Lock (v7-E): BONE = 36 = NAIL . The smiting on the cheek-bone uses the NAIL-integer for the bone-word. The nail-into-the-cheekbone is structurally the same integer-mechanic as the crucifixion-nail (NAIL = 36, JUDGES 4:21 Sisera's temple-nail through Jael).
Lock (v8-A): SALVATION BELONGETH UNTO THE LORD = 353 = prime, sealed. The famous formula of v8 is sealed at a prime — no decomposition. Compare with v2's NO HELP FOR HIM IN GOD = 188 = 4 × 47 (composite, factorable). The lie composes; the truth seals. This is the integer-form of the proverb "thou hast made the truth-vessel of one prime, the lie of multiple composites."
Lock (v8-B): THY BLESSING = 140 = FOR EVERMORE (Psa 18:50) = SHARP RAZOR (Psa 52:2). The forward-bridge from Psa 3 to Psa 140 is THY BLESSING. The blessing-word of Psa 3:8 is the chapter-number of the imprecation psalm 137 chapters later. Psa 140 is the LOVINGKINDNESS=174 psalm; its chapter integer (140) is where Psa 3's blessing lives. The blessing of the violent-son psalm is the imprecation-psalm's number. This is one of the strongest forward-chapter-bridges in the decoded Psalter.
Lock (v8-C): IS UPON THY PEOPLE = 216 = 6³ = FROM THE LOWEST HELL (Psa 86:13). The Shem ha-Mephoresh integer (216 = the 72 names of God in Kabbalah, 72 × 3 = 216) sits where David says the blessing IS on God's people. Each person of "thy people" is a name of God at this integer. Compare followups D-Psa86 — 216 is the integer for "from the lowest hell" — David's lift-from-the-lowest IS the Name-integer that lifts him.
Lock (v8-D): SELAH #3 follows IS UPON THY PEOPLE = 216 = 6³. The third Selah marks the Name-depth — 72 × 3 — and is the only Selah following a perfect-cube. The three Selahs ladder: 188 (4×47) → 137 (prime) → 216 (6³). Composite-lie → fine-structure prime → cube of 72. Three depth-grades, ascending: shallow-lie → fundamental-constant → Name-cubed.

The hinge verse of Psalm 3 and the verse the church has repeated daily since the patristic age. On the surface: David survives a night in flight. Underneath: a complete resurrection protocol encoded as one verse. The chapter names itself here. The integer-architecture seals.
Lock 5-A — The chapter names itself at the resurrection verse: SLEPT (72) + AWAKED (45) = 117 = PSALM THREE = PENTECOST. This is the keystone lock of the entire decode. The verse-of-the-resurrection in chapter-three of the Psalter contains the two verbs whose sum equals the chapter-number-name AND the Pentecost-day-count. And the verse where it operates is the verse the early church read every night as resurrection-prefiguration. Psa 3:5 is the chapter announcing itself by gematria as its own resurrection.
Lock 5-B — Every Selah is gematria-identical to AWAKED: AWAKED = SELAH = PIT = 45. The wake-event integer is the Selah-event integer is the pit-event integer. In Psalm 3 specifically (three Selahs in eight verses — the densest Selah-saturation in the Psalter), every Selah is structurally a WAKE — meaning the psalm is engineered as a series of micro-resurrections: lie-belief → wake (Selah 1), holy-hill audition → wake (Selah 2), benediction-completion → wake (Selah 3). The Selahs are not pauses. They are awakenings inside the chapter that already names itself "WAKE."
Lock 5-C — Praying and sleeping are one event: I LAID ME DOWN AND SLEPT (v5) = I CRIED UNTO THE LORD (v4) = 200. The same integer crosses verses 4 and 5. The voice that cried unto the Lord and the body that lay down and slept share a single integer — David's prayer-act and David's sleep-act are gematria-identical. Compline antiphon is, structurally, the prayer that proves prayer-and-sleep are the same vector. This is the integer-form of "in returning and rest shall ye be saved" (Isa 30:15).
Lock 5-D — The whole verse factors through Melchizedek: v5 sum = 505 = 5 × 101 = 5 × MELCHIZEDEK = 5 × HOLY HILL (= HIS DELIGHT, TONGUES, TREE OF LIFE). The verse where the LORD sustains David through sleep-and-wake factors fivefold through the priest-king-Hebrew-form integer of Psa 110:4. Five = the wounds, the books of Moses, the loaves at the feeding, the Pentateuch foundation. Fivefold-Melchizedek sustains the sleeping David. v5 IS Psa 110:4 quintupled.
Lock 5-E — Sleep-and-wake = head-lift: I SLEPT I AWAKED = 135 = LIFT UP THE HEAD (v3) = MANY ARE THEY (v1) = ARTAXERXES = BURNING COALS (Psa 140:10). The bare action of v5 (with personal pronouns intact, no connectors) equals the bare action of v3 at the same integer. Sleeping-and-waking IS head-lifting — gematria-identical. The body horizontal/vertical alternation is encoded as the same integer the king's head rises by. And this 135 is the mobile-judgment integer that Psa 140 prays not to be lifted up by and Psa 110 lifts at coronation: in Psa 3, the head-lift direction is UP, and the agent is the same God who in Psa 140 holds the burning-coals DOWN.
Lock 5-F — SLEPT and AWAKED at the protection-cluster and depth-cluster: SLEPT = 72 = STILL = CARRIER = WINGS = MERCIES. AWAKED = 45 = SELAH = PIT. The two verbs land in two of the most loaded KJVEL clusters: the 72 protection-flight cluster and the 45 depth-marker cluster (the integer of every Selah and of every PIT). Sleep happens in the wings-of-God; wake happens at the pit-bottom marker; both sum to the chapter-name 117. Protection-clusters and depth-clusters are not opposites — they are two halves of one integer-sum.
I laid me down (200 = the prayer integer) and slept (72 = the wings-and-still-mercies integer). I awaked (45 = the Selah-depth-mark integer = the wake-event integer). For the LORD sustained me (sustained = 112 = wickedness-reversed-by-the-Lord; full-clause routes through 5 × 101 = fivefold Melchizedek). Together, SLEPT + AWAKED = 117 = the chapter-name = Pentecost.
