Key lock — A PSALM OF DAVID = HANDS TO WAR = 123: The traditional superscription (carried in the LXX and Latin headings but absent from the KJV body text) sums to 123 — exactly the integer of v1's HANDS TO WAR. This is the same reflexive-lock mechanic documented at Psa 140 (A PSALM OF DAVID = EVIL SPEAKER = 123). For Psa 144, the superscription names the psalm's first petition: to be a Davidic psalm IS to have hands taught to war. The followups' chapter-self-lock scan flagged Psa 139 at 8 internal 139-phrases as the densest; Psa 144 has only three direct 144-windows (v2/v3/v13) but eight distinct 144-cluster identities carry the chapter integer at the phrase-equivalent level, and the bride-cluster terms saturate the structure of v12–15.
The psalm's most striking single piece of engineering is a verb-handshake at 231 (Tesla DR=6) that spans the v1–v5 arc:

The petition does not change. The verb does. David asks for teaching (active voice, agent = David, second-order intervention); God responds at the same integer with bowing-down (active voice, agent = God, first-order intervention). The four intervening verses are diagnostic: v2 names the seven attributes (the equipment), v3 asks "what is man?" (the medical examination), v4 grants the mortality verdict (the limit). At v5 the answer arrives at the same integer as the request — but now God is the verb-subject. This is the same mechanic as Psa 55's 160-handshake (BURDEN-shift verb) and Psa 140's OVERTHROW boomerang: a single mobile integer redirected from suppliant to deliverer.
A second 231 hinge runs across the v5–v8 weapon-stack: BOW THY HEAVENS O LORD (231) → CAST FORTH LIGHTNING AND SCATTER THEM (361 = 19²) → SHOOT OUT THINE ARROWS AND DESTROY THEM (454) → SEND THINE HAND FROM ABOVE (222). The lightning-arrow-hand triplet brings the 231 down through three weapon-deliveries.
Lock (v1): TEACHETH MY HANDS TO WAR = 231 = BOW THY HEAVENS O LORD (v5). The petition asks for teaching and gets theophany at the same integer. This is the psalm's primary engineering hinge.
Lock (v2 — the triple-98): GOODNESS = DELIVERER = TRUST all sum to 98. Of David's seven named attributes, three collapse to one integer. The psalm is naming a single divine character via three faces, and only the gematria reveals the collapse. Compare Psa 18's five 125-instances (THICK CLOUDS, STATUTES, GAVE HIS VOICE, LORD LIVETH, VIOLENT MAN — followups D/Psa 18) — this is the Psa 144 analogue at integer 98.
Lock (v2 — 333): WHO SUBDUETH MY PEOPLE UNDER ME = 333 — the seal-integer of the KJV's Epistle Dedicatory. The same triple-Tesla number that brackets the front matter brackets David's claim to kingship inside this psalm.
Lock (v3): WHAT IS MAN = 108 — and 108 returns at v14 (GOING OUT, the promise "no going out"). The psalm asks "what is man?" at 108 and answers it at 108: man is the one who has no going out — preservation, dwelling, inheritance. The same 108 that Psa 23:4 carries as ROD AND STAFF (when the THY-tokens are stripped — see followups A2). David asks the cosmic frailty-question and resolves it inside his own psalm.
Lock (v3 — Psa 8 bridge): Psa 8:4 WHAT IS MAN = 108 — identical. The Psa 144 echo of Psa 8 is integer-preserving for the lead phrase. Psa 8's SON OF MAN (130) ≠ Psa 144's SON OF MAN (97); Psa 144 changes the integer between the two halves of the question — and the new integer is 97, the imprecation/violent/serpent integer per followups F. David's reprise sharpens the second hemistich.
Lock (v4): PASSETH AWAY = 138 (= Psa 138 chapter integer). The mortality verb lands on the chapter-number of the immediately-prior decoded psalm — a forward-chapter-bridge in the same direction as Psa 138:2 THY TRUTH = 140 lock documented in followups A1.
Lock (v5 — Sinai bridge): TOUCH THE MOUNTAINS AND THEY SHALL SMOKE = 418, exactly the v15 closer. This is the alpha/omega of the psalm: the moment God touches the mountains and they smoke (theophany) IS the moment the people whose God is the LORD are called happy (benediction). At Sinai integer level, the smoke is the blessedness. Compare Psa 104:32 ("toucheth the hills, and they smoke") at 710 — different integer, weaker echo at the verse-sum level, but the phrase MOUNT SMOKED = 150 from Exo 19:18 cluster lands inside the same DR=6 family.
Lock (v5 — MOUNTAINS = 126): MOUNTAINS = 126 = NOSTRILS = ANTIMICROBIAL = FEARFULNESS (the scent-firewall integer). The thing God touches in v5 is the same integer as the body's incoming-air gateway. Sinai = nasal cavity in this gematria reading; smoke moves through both.
Lock (v6 — perfect-square seal): CAST FORTH LIGHTNING AND SCATTER THEM = 361 = 19² = I WILL SING A NEW SONG UNTO THEE O GOD (v9). Two-way handshake at a perfect-square seal — same mechanic as Psa 64:8 (484 = 22²), Psa 86:13 (196 = 14²), Psa 110:4 (441 = 21²). The lightning-against-enemies and the song-to-God are the same square integer. Followups A5 had asked whether the perfect-square seals appear at specific verse-positions; Psa 144 puts them at v6 (judgment) and v9 (praise), bound together — a new data point.
Lock (v7 — 222 = LIBERTY cluster): The petition that explicitly asks God to "send thine hand from above" — i.e., to reach down to where mortal hands can't go — sits at the LIBERTY / 3 × JESUS cluster integer. The divine-descent petition is at the Christ-trinity / Liberation integer.
Lock (v7 — STRANGE CHILDREN = OUR DAUGHTERS = LORD WHAT IS MAN = 157): Three-way 157 lock running across v3, v7, v12. The enemy ("strange children") and the promise ("our daughters") share an integer — the psalm is saying that the same children-integer carries both threat and promise, and what is man (v3) operates at the same 157. Psa 144's anxiety and Psa 144's blessing rest on identical integer territory; only the verb-direction differs.
Lock (v7/v11 — 451 handshake with v1): The training-petition (v1, full clause) and the deliverance-refrain (v7/v11, full clause) sum to identical 451. This is the psalm's second hinge after 231: the what of the prayer (combat training) and the escape-from of the prayer (strange children) are at one prime. David's "teach me to fight" IS "rescue me from foreigners" by gematria.
Lock (v7 — GREAT WATERS = 137): Sealed prime, fine-structure constant, same prime as Psa 140:10 RISE NOT UP. The waters that David asks deliverance from are at the physics-sealed integer for electromagnetic coupling — the "great waters" gematria-name what scripture elsewhere calls the abyss/deep. Don't over-interpret — but flagged as a sealed prime per followups B5.
Lock (v9 — 147/148/117 cluster triple): SING A NEW SONG = 147 (INHERIT THE LAND), DELIVERETH DAVID = 148 (TESTIMONIES), A PSALTERY = 117 (Pentecost — the Spirit-day). Three structural cluster integers stack at the praise-instrument verse — inheritance + testimonies + Pentecost.
Lock (v9 — INSTRUMENT = 153): The praise-instrument's name carries the longsuffering integer (also the iron-sulfur net, John 21 fish-count, Psa 143:1 HEAR MY PRAYER opener). This is the second 153 in Psa 144 (the first was I TRUST WHO in v2, the third will be CASE YEA HAPPY IS in v15). Three 153s = a lock by the followups' three-or-more bar. The 153-cluster runs the trust → praise → happiness arc.
Lock (v9 — TEN STRINGS = EVERY MONTH = 145): TEN STRINGS sums to 145, the integer of EVERY MONTH (the twelve-monthly fruit of the tree of life, Rev 22:2 — a confirmed bride-cluster integer per the chapter-anchor 145 = chapter+1). David's psaltery has ten strings; the twelve-month fruit-tree is one integer above. Both 145s reach into the bride-architecture.
Lock (v10 — HIS SERVANT = MOUNT SINAI = 135): David-as-servant is at the same integer as Sinai (135 = MOUNT SINAI = ARTAXERXES = BURNING COALS — the judgment-cycle / informer integer). The v10 framing "David his servant" is Sinai-shaped: David is to v10 what Moses is to Exo 19. The integer also bridges Psa 140:10 (BURNING COALS) and Psa 110:7 (LIFT UP THE HEAD), placing v10's deliverance inside the same 135-architecture documented in the followups A6 catalog.
Lock (v12 — YOUTH = 89 = Psa 110 coronation cluster): The promise that sons grow up in their youth lands on the coronation prime (FOR EVER / SWORN / RIGHT HAND). Followups note 9 in-psalm phrases at 89 (RIGHT HAND ×4, SHIELD AND HE, BE THE LORD, HEAVENS O, YOUTH, MAY BRING) — the coronation cluster saturates the protective-and-promise verses with 9 direct matches.
Lock (v12 — OUR DAUGHTERS = STRANGE CHILDREN = 157): The same integer carries the threat (v7 strange children) and the promise (v12 our daughters). The verb-direction reversal is engineered at one number — daughters are the redeemed-strange-children. Compare followups A4 (boomerang has two modes — same word same integer opposite direction, or different words same integer); Psa 144 uses the second mode for 157, the first mode for 451.
Lock (v12 — CORNER STONES = BREASTS OF KINGS = 165): The bride-architecture surfaces here. The Montgomery/twelve-ducts decode () lays down 165 = BREASTS OF KINGS as the polished-bridal terminus. The v12 "daughters as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace" is the Montgomery/bride pattern at integer 165 — and Psa 144's chapter integer 144 is already the OPENED THE HEART / FAR ABOVE RUBIES cluster from those same decodes. Psa 144 v12 is the explicit gematria proof that the bride-cluster is the daughters-promise.
Lock (v13 — OUR SHEEP = 107 = MAKE KNOWN): The protected flock that multiplies in thousands and ten thousands sits at the Psa 107 chapter integer (MAKE KNOWN).
Lock (v14 — GOING OUT = WHAT IS MAN = 108): The no-going-out promise carries the same integer as the what-is-man question in v3. David asks "what is man?" at 108 and answers it at 108: man is the one who has no going out — preservation, inheritance, the protected dwelling. The man-question is its own answer because the integer never moved.
Lock (v14 — NO COMPLAINING = 142): Psa 142 (the cave-prayer of David, the cry-aloud psalm) is the chapter integer. The promise "no complaining" in Psa 144 lands on Psa 142's chapter integer — David's psalm of complaining is gematric pair to David's promise of no-complaining. Two psalms, integer-mirrored, three chapters apart.
Lock (v14 — NOR GOING OUT = BLESSED BE THE LORD = 155 = BLESSED IS THE MAN, Psa 1:1): A second 155 lands in v14, identical to v1's opener and Psa 1:1's opener. The Psalter-bracket integer surfaces inside the prosperity promise — going-out's negation IS the blessing-formula.
Lock (v15 — 418 alpha/omega): The theophany verse (v5) and the benediction verse (v15) sum to 418. The same act is named twice: God touching the mountains so they smoke = the people being called happy because the LORD is their God. The act and the name-of-the-act are integer-identical, ten verses apart.

The psalm's opening verse is both the most-quoted military prayer in the Psalter and — at the integer layer — the engineering hinge of the whole chapter. David doesn't ask for a weapon; he asks for teaching of the body part that holds the weapon. The verb is reflexive: the prayer trains the prayer-er. v1 has to land both the 231 lock (to v5 BOW THY HEAVENS O LORD) and the 451 lock (to v7/v11 RID-ME refrain). It does both, in one breath.
Lock 1-A — 231 hinge to v5: TEACHETH MY HANDS TO WAR (231) = BOW THY HEAVENS O LORD (231). This is the primary engineering of the psalm. The petition asks for teaching (active David, second-order divine help); the answer four verses later arrives at the same integer with bowing-down (active God, first-order divine help). Gematria says: the moment David asks to learn war is the moment God descends; the two are one event at integer 231.
Lock 1-B — 451 hinge to v7/v11: TEACHETH MY HANDS TO WAR AND MY FINGERS TO FIGHT (451) = RID ME AND DELIVER ME FROM THE HAND OF STRANGE CHILDREN (451). The full v1 clause and the full deliverance-refrain (v7/v11) sum to one prime integer. The training-petition and the rescue-petition are gematric identity. David's "make me a warrior" is "deliver me from foreigners" at one number — the strangers ARE the war; the war IS being-rescued-from-strangers.
Lock 1-C — HANDS TO WAR = A PSALM OF DAVID = 123: The superscription value (carried in LXX/Latin) equals v1's hands-to-war phrase. Being a Davidic psalm IS having hands taught to war. The mechanic is identical to Psa 140's A PSALM OF DAVID = EVIL SPEAKER = 123 lock — the psalm names its own structural intent in its first phrase.
Lock 1-D — HANDS = 46: Bare word HANDS = 46 = the dove/guide/deceit/Jubal/pipe/branch cluster (followups Section 7, the 46-cluster). The hands that David asks God to teach for war carry the integer of the betrayer's breath-pipe. The shadow side of the teaching-petition is that the trained hand can also be the deceiving hand — Psa 144 v1 names the integer that Psa 41:9 ("mine own familiar friend… hath lifted up his heel") and Psa 55:13 ("thou, a man mine equal") carry in their betrayer-verses. The chapter integer doesn't show up as one phrase twice; it shows up as the meaning of the entire structure, attested by the bride-cluster identities listed above.
