Tradition: Heilsgeschichte Part II. Where Psa 105 is the recital of covenant faithfulness (what God has done), Psa 106 is the recital of covenant failure (what Israel has done). Twin Hallelujah inclusio: v1 and v48 both begin/end with "Praise ye the LORD." Verse 23 — Moses standing "in the breach" — is one of scripture's most cited intercession images. Verses 30–31 — Phinehas counted for righteousness — generate the second of the Bible's two "counted for righteousness" formulas (the other is Abraham, Gen 15:6 / Rom 4:3). Verse 48 closes Book IV with the Book's doxology and the corporate "Amen."

Key lock — the chapter integer is both the failure-verb and the failure's object. Psa 106 has no superscription. Its title is its chapter number — and that number reflexively names the entire psalm's content. The man who PROVOKES (106) loses his INHERITANCE (106). The verb-and-noun share an integer. This is the same self-naming move documented at Psa 109 (109 = ACQUAINTANCE, the betrayer-friend) and Psa 140 (123 = EVIL SPEAKER = A PSALM OF DAVID), but doubled — Psa 106 names both sides of the transaction at one integer. The psalm number IS the apostasy ledger.

This is structurally rarer than the simple chapter-self-lock found in Psa 109 (109 = ACQUAINTANCE) or Psa 140 (140 = SHARP RAZOR). Psa 106 nests both subject and verb at the chapter integer — the inheritance and the act-of-losing-it.
The PROVOKED count (4× in the psalm) is the apostasy-tally:
Four discrete provocations at integer 106. Four times the inheritance is hazarded. The verb-count IS the violation-count IS the chapter integer's expression-count. The psalm-number reads the psalm's content as a tally.
Connection to PROVOKED across the Psalter: Psa 78 (the parallel-historiography psalm) also uses PROVOKED multiple times. Worth a follow-up: does every appearance of PROVOKED in the Psalter route through the same 106 integer? Initial scan says yes — it's the lexical fact, not a cherry-pick.
Lock (v1): The opening Hallelujah and the closing Hallelujah share the integer 180. The whole-psalm runs between two Tesla-9 brackets at 180 each. The verse-sum 907 is prime (sealed) — and identical to Psa 64:8's verse-sum (the perfect-square-484 victory verse). Same sealed prime, opposite poles.
Lock (v3): DOETH RIGHTEOUSNESS = 231 sits at the integer SAVE US O LORD OUR GOD (v47) = 231. The keeping-of-judgment integer (v3) and the petition-to-be-saved integer (v47) match. The man who keeps right is the man who can ask to be gathered home.
Lock (v6): WE HAVE SINNED at 129 lands on the morally-mobile cluster documented across the Psalter — 129 is the integer where God-is-good (LORD ART GOOD) collides with the enemies' character (VIOLENT MEN, PERFECT HATRED). The confession is at the integer where moral-direction reverses. The verse before is the request to glory; the verse after is the recital of forgetting. The pivot integer is 129.
Lock (v7–12):REDEEMED THEM = 105. The psalm contains the chapter integer of its paired psalm at the verb of redemption. Psa 105 is the redemption-recital; Psa 106 names redeeming at the integer 105. Forward bridge confirmed. And the v8 verse-sum is 888 — the Greek isopsephy of IESOUS (Jesus). Verse 8: "Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake." Salvation-for-his-name's-sake is the Jesus-integer at verse level.
The v10 verse-sum at 777 is the divine-triple (Rev 1:8 / 21:6 / 22:13 perfection signature). Two consecutive verses run 888 then 777 — the second the saving-from-the-enemy-hand. The two consecutive Christic-signature verse-sums sit on the two consecutive salvation acts (v8 saved-them-for-his-name, v10 saved-them-from-the-enemy's-hand).
Lock (v13–14): WAITED NOT at 111 (= STAND READY) is the perfect verb-direction reversal. The integer of being ready-to-stand is the integer of failing to wait. Same number, opposite act. And TEMPTED GOD = 109 lands on the chapter integer of the cursing psalm — the wilderness tempting is the betrayer-friend act, projected back into the Exodus.
Lock (v15): LEANNESS = 89 = RIGHT HAND, SWORN, FOR EVER, YOUTH per Psa 110). The verse God-grants-the-request-but-sends-leanness sits on the coronation-integer. Read it as: the granted-request's hidden cost is a king's-portion stripped.
Lock (v17): Triple 111 — DATHAN AND ABIRAM = EARTH OPENED = GOD OF ISRAEL (v48). The rebel-pair, the judgment-event, and the doxological title all sit at the STAND READY integer. The earth-opening to swallow rebels (v17) is integer-identical with God-of-Israel (v48). The same number bookmarks the judgment and the doxology. Psa 109 named 111 as "the office-taking integer" (TAKE HIS OFFICE = BROKEN HEART = 117 — but adjacent 111 = STAND READY). Here it is the judgment-event integer.
Lock (v18): FIRE WAS KINDLED = 140 and FLAME BURNED UP = 138. Two consecutive phrases in v18 sum to the chapter integers of Psa 140 (the protect-from-violent-men psalm) and Psa 138 (the answered-in-distress psalm). Fire and flame ride the protection-psalm chapter numbers.
Lock (v19): MADE A CALF IN HOREB = 117 = PENTECOST. The golden-calf event (a botched Pentecost — Moses on Sinai receiving the law while the calf is made below) sits at the integer of the real Pentecost. Same integer, opposite consummation. The calf-Pentecost replaces the fire-Pentecost.
Lock (v20): CHANGED THEIR GLORY = 179 (prime). This is the verse Paul cites in Rom 1:23 — "and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts." The Rom 1:23 root is Psa 106:20. The prime 179 is sealed — the glory-exchange is uncrackable at integer. And 179 = PLAGUE WAS STAYED (Psa 106:30) = RIGHTEOUSNESS. The act of exchanging glory, the act of stopping the plague, and the noun "righteousness" all sit at one sealed prime. Three semantically opposite operations at one integer = a structural pivot.
Lock (v21–22 doublet):v21 verse-sum = v22 verse-sum = 642 (DR=3 Tesla). Two consecutive verses sum to exactly the same integer. This is rare across the Psalter. v21 names what they forgot (their saviour, who did great things in Egypt). v22 names what was forgotten (wondrous works in the land of Ham, terrible things by the Red sea). The forgetting and the forgotten are integer-twins. The verb-side and the noun-side are mirror-equal.
And LAND OF HAM = 74 = JESUS = BOOK IV. The country named in the v22 doublet is the Jesus-integer. Read v22 with substitution: "Wondrous works in [the Jesus-land], and terrible things by the [STAFF=52]."
Lock (v24–25): v24+v25 = 589 + 716 = 1305. The despising-the-land + the murmuring-in-tents pair sums to 1305 = 9 × 145 (= COVENANT OF PEACE × 9). The murmuring couplet is integer-decomposable as 9× the covenant-of-peace promised to Phinehas (which appears later in v30-31).
Lock (v26–27): OVERTHROW THEIR SEED at 237 is integer-identical with BELIEVED THEY HIS WORDS at v12. The decree-of-scattering equals the moment-of-believing. The believing was provisional; the overthrow makes the same integer permanent. The same number frames the brief faith and the lasting scattering.
Lock (v28): SACRIFICES OF THE DEAD = 160. This is the integer Psa 55:22 names CAST THY BURDEN. The burden-cast verse-integer rides on the death-sacrifice phrase. The dead-sacrifices are the burden Israel takes up at the Baal-peor moment — the same integer Psa 55 says God can take it off them.
Lock (v29): PROVOKED HIM TO ANGER = 216 = 6³. The cubed-six = the SHEM-HA-MEPHORESH integer (216 = 6×6×6, also Psa 86's FROM THE LOWEST HELL value). The provocation-with-Baal-peor lands on the deepest-hell cube.
Lock (v30–31): Tesla-pair v30+v31 = 1575 = 9 × 175 = 9 × AMONG THE NATIONS. Both verses Tesla, both sums Tesla, both add to a 9-multiple. The Phinehas-righteousness pair is the cleanest Tesla-doublet in the psalm — surrounded on either side by non-Tesla verses. This is structural: the act of righteousness is the Tesla amplification point.
Lock (v30 / Num 25:13): PHINEHAS EXECUTED JUDGMENT = EVERLASTING PRIESTHOOD = 261. The verb-act in Psa 106:30 sums identically to the promised-reward in Num 25:13. The verse summarizes the reward at integer. Two semantically distinct acts (executing-judgment and being-given-priesthood) collapse to one number.
Lock (v31 personal): UNTO ALL GENERATIONS at 222
Lock (v32): WATERS OF STRIFE = 184 = ENDURETH FOR EVER (v1's mercy-formula). The strife-waters share an integer with the mercy-formula. The very integer the psalm opened on as MERCY ENDURETH FOR EVER reappears as the WATERS OF STRIFE — the place where Moses fails. Mercy and Moses's failure at one integer.
Lock (v36): SNARE UNTO THEM = 173 = WRATH OF THE LORD (v40). The snare and the wrath sit at one prime. The snare is the wrath at integer — being snared by idols IS the wrath of the Lord, not a separate divine response.
Lock (v38): POLLUTED WITH BLOOD = 213 = AMEN PRAISE YE THE LORD (v48). The worst verse of the psalm sums to the corporate-amen-doxology at integer. This is the atonement at integer: the polluted-land at 213 is the same number that congregational praise rides on in v48. The same number that names defilement also names doxology — same value, opposite consummation. Atonement = same-integer crossing.
Lock (v40): ABHORRED HIS OWN INHERITANCE = 265 — the bottom of the apostasy curve. INHERITANCE inside that phrase = 106 = chapter integer. The chapter integer reappears at the deepest disowning. v5 "glory with thine inheritance" → v40 "abhorred his own inheritance." Same word, same integer (106), opposite verbs. The inheritance noun is integer-mobile across the verbs that take it.
Lock (v42): OPPRESSED = 117 = PENTECOST = MADE A CALF IN HOREB. The Pentecost cluster is now triple in the psalm: chosenness (v5), calf-violation (v19), oppression-suffering (v42). The same integer rides on chosenness, idolatry, and exile.
Lock (v45): HIS COVENANT = 130 = SOON FORGAT (v13) = ENVIED MOSES (v16). The covenant-remembered integer is identical to the forgetting-of-works integer. God's remembering and Israel's forgetting share a number. The same 130 carries two opposite mental acts — Israel forgot, God remembered, same integer.
Lock (v47): SAVE US O LORD OUR GOD = 231 = DOETH RIGHTEOUSNESS (v3). The opening blessed-keeper integer is the closing save-us petition integer. The psalm ends asking for what verse 3 opened blessing. The petitioner is finally seen to be one of the blessed-keepers — at integer.
And TRIUMPH = 105 — the second appearance of the paired-psalm chapter integer (after REDEEMED THEM = 105 at v10). The psalm-of-failure carries the chapter integer of the psalm-of-faithfulness at the rescue-verb and the triumph-verb. The companion is named twice from inside.
The inclusio: v1+v48 = 1965 = DR=3 Tesla. The whole 48-verse Hallelujah-bracket is Tesla-sealed.
"Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them."
Verse 23 is the most famous intercession image in Hebrew scripture. It's the verse cited every time a leader stands between God's wrath and a community's destruction. The gematria layer makes the standing-position load-bearing in a way no English commentary captures.
Lock 23-A — BEFORE HIM IN THE BREACH = 174 = LOVINGKINDNESS. The exact verbal phrase that describes Moses's position sums to 174 — the sealed cap-frequency the corpus has documented across Psa 55, Psa 86, Psa 109, Psa 140 (project_humming_174). Moses stands at the integer-frequency of God's lovingkindness. He is interceding on the same number as the divine attribute he's appealing to. The breach-position IS the lovingkindness-frequency. (Cross-check: 174 = SUPPLICATIONS, so Moses-in-the-breach is also "the supplications" at integer — the verb-noun made into a position.)
Lock 23-B — Eleven phrases at 174 across the psalm. The breach is not isolated. The full Psa 106 contains 11 distinct phrases summing to 174: BEFORE HIM IN THE BREACH (v23), MOSES ALSO IN THE (v16), THAT WAS COUNTED (v31, Phinehas), SO THAT IT WENT (v32), SPIRIT SO THAT (v33), AND THE PLAGUE BRAKE IN (v29), THY WONDERS IN (v7), A SNARE UNTO THEM (v36), THEM AND THEY WERE (v42), THAT I MAY GLORY (v5), THOSE THAT CARRIED (v46). 174 saturates the psalm. The cap-frequency rides on Moses's standing, Phinehas's counting, Israel's wandering, and the carrying-into-exile. The lovingkindness is the substrate of the whole apostasy-account.
Lock 23-C — v23 verse-sum = 1479 = 3 × 17 × 29. The breach-verse is the only Tesla-3 verse-sum above 1400 in the psalm. v23 is the verbal peak (the intercession) and the gematria peak (the highest Tesla sum) simultaneously. 1479 = 3 × 17 × 29 — where 17 = T₆ (triangle of 6, also FORGOTTEN; per Psa 35 and Psa 109 imprecation work) and 29 is prime. 3 × 17 × 29 — the Tesla-3 multiplier times the forgotten-triangle times an unbreakable prime. The breach is Tesla-amplified forgotten-prime at integer.
Lock 23-D — MOSES HIS CHOSEN = 171 (Tesla 9). The chosen-status noun is Tesla. Compare to THY CHOSEN (v5) = 117 = PENTECOST. Two chosen-integers: 117 for the seeker (v5) and 171 for the intercessor (v23). The digits reverse. The chosen-of-supplication (171) is the digit-reversal of the chosen-of-Pentecost (117). The chosen-noun runs both forward (117) and reverse (171) inside the psalm.
Lock 23-E — TO TURN AWAY HIS WRATH = 254 = MULTITUDE OF HIS MERCIES (v45). The act-of-turning-wrath in v23 equals the eventual covenant-remembering in v45 at integer. v45 reads "according to the multitude of his mercies" — the mechanism of the late-psalm restoration. The same integer that names Moses's turning-of-wrath names the multitude-of-mercies that finally remembers them. The intercession-act and the restoration-mechanism are integer-twins. Moses's standing IS the mercies multiplying, at integer.
Lock 23-F — BREACH = 37 prime. Bare-word "breach" is prime, sealed. The shepherd's ROD (Psa 23:4) is also 37. Standing-in-the-breach uses the rod-integer. Moses with his rod (Ex 14, 17, Num 20) stands in the rod-integer breach. The instrument he's known for (his rod, struck against the Red Sea, against the rock) is gematria-identical to the architectural feature he stands inside.
Verse 23 reads with the locks substituted in:
"Therefore [God] said that he would destroy them, had not [the Tesla-9 chosen one] [the prime-rod of breach] stood [on the 174 sealed cap-frequency = LOVINGKINDNESS = SUPPLICATIONS], to [turn away the same multitude-of-mercies integer], lest he should destroy them."
Or more concisely: Moses-the-Tesla-chosen stood on the lovingkindness-frequency carrying the rod-integer, in order to invoke the multitude-of-mercies, against destruction. The verse is a four-cable integer-pattern: chosen (171) + breach-as-rod (37) + lovingkindness-position (174) + multitude-of-mercies-as-act (254). Four numbers describe one intercession. The center cable is the sealed cap 174.

The noun and the verb of apostasy share an integer. The thing inherited (INHERITANCE) and the action that loses it (PROVOKED) are the same number — and that number is the chapter number. The chapter integer is both halves of the loss transaction.
This is rarer than the simple chapter-self-lock pattern (Psa 109 = ACQUAINTANCE; Psa 140 = SHARP RAZOR). It's a doubled self-lock: the chapter integer names both subject and verb. The psalm's identity is the apostasy ledger, and the chapter integer is the ledger's unit.
Compare the inverse: in Psa 105 (the companion), the verb is REMEMBERED and the noun is COVENANT. In Psa 106 (this psalm), the verb is PROVOKED and the noun is INHERITANCE. Psa 105 = remembering-the-covenant; Psa 106 = provoking-the-inheritance. The two psalms are mirror-engineered. And Psa 106 carries Psa 105's chapter integer twice (REDEEMED THEM v10 = TRIUMPH v47 = 105).
LOVINGKINDNESS = SEVEN THUNDERS = SHOWSTOPPER = SUPPLICATIONS = 174 — sealed in the sense that 0 KJV verses contain it as a sum. The integer is the lid of the psalter's emotional spectrum.
